It took a while for me to use it. So I went to PR to visit my wife’s cousin and I took this rod there to fish with. It was garbage the reel did not even work. I had to go and another reel. I would not even suggest this for kids. Do not buy!

I even had trouble putting line on this pole and casting it, so it was definitely not a pole my son could put line on by himself, which is what I was looking for. Is a sturdy pole and a good deal…just not a good first fishing pole for a kid.

This was a great item and my son loves it he is 8. It’s easy for him to carry it around and extend it out when fishing. Lightweight so he didn’t get tired of carrying it. It was definitely sturdy for the fish he was catching.
