Pole is decent for small, freshwater fishing. Definitely not a pole for river catfishing, not for a catfish with much weight to it.. I have a very difficult time finding a good, sturdy pole and reel for river catfishing. Will use pole for kids, grandkids, but for me, I’ll keep looking. 🤗

I do not see the sence in the bag holder, once you put it together it is such a tight fit you can not get it apart to put in bag. I would of rather it came with fishing line! That was disappointing.

Sougayilang makes the best fishing rod and reel combos! Their products are very functional, HIGH PERFORMING and the best value on the market! The fishing rod is extremely durable since it is made out of fiberglass. This is a great introductory rod on how to teach your children to fish without the worry of the rod being damaged. Fiberglass rods are extremely strong in comparison to graphite rods. The reel is very smooth and very functional on how to teach the kids to cast. This rod is more sturdy than I was expecting. However, that doesn't bother me as I need a heavier duty rod to try for catfish in the large pond behind my house. I'm sure it would be suitable for other larger fish also, but certainly not the best for a smaller variety. The reel looks nice and seems to work smoothly. The handle is reversible for right or left hand use. The main reason that I have not given 5 stars is because I have another Sougayilang rod I bought several years back. I really like it, but after some time and use the reel started creating knots and kinks in the line. I am hopeful that this issue is not repeated with this reel/rod combo. Still, for such a sturdy rod it seems like a very nice value. ... show more
