Great combo for the price (got it on a sale price of $59.99). Definitely for bigger baits but I can't complain given the price. Also, I would suggest turning up the magnetic brakes a little higher than you normally would with this real. This is just my personal feeling but I did feel like this reel definitely required a little more thumbing than my other reels. ... show more

I bought this combo for my husband for Father’s Day. He was finally able to use it today. He got about 10 cast in and got snagged and he yanked a little and the pole snapped right at the joint where the two piece rod connects. We have never broke a rod before. It was like this one didn’t bend and just broke. If my husband caught a two pound fish it would have broke the rod. The reel on the other hand is smooth and feels amazing. My suggestion is buy just the reel and then go buy an Ugly stick or something like that to go with it. ... show more

Thought it was coming Sunday, so I was beyond excited that I was going to be able to spool it up and get some use in on my Saturday trip. As I unbox it the lower is missing the reel and the top half of the rod is snapped. It looks like it was a return from someone else.
