    • Easy to adjust for two kids of different heights

My grandkids were excited to use this metal detector. The first thing they found was a lost apartment key someone else had lost about 3 inches deep in the dirt. They were able to find other pieces of metal, a deck screw, and about $1.71 in change in the dirt around the parking lot in a short time as we tested it out. The monitor clearly showed the difference between iron and coins, which made it easy to identify the good stuff. In order to adjust the height more easily, I had to add a little bit of grease on the threads of the locking mechanism so it could be opened/closed easily. It tended to lock in place before I lubed it. After that, the height was easy to adjust between the two kids as they took turns. One improvement I'd recommend is making all of the length of the shaft be able to collapse into the handle so you can stow the whole device in the backpack without having to disassemble and disconnect the plug. The way it is now, we had to remove the lower two sections of the shaft from the handle and then unplug the connector every time we wanted to put the detector into the included backpack. I see this as a potential weak point over time if someone uses it a lot. Slightly inconvenient. Young kids may have a shorter attention span and lose interest quickly. But older kids (around 8 yrs and older) may find it exciting to see what they can find and comprehend shifting directions to pinpoint where the signal of buried treasure is pinging from. work very well for the price, I couldn't find the shovel the rest is very good, it came with all the accessories, and doesn't look like Chinese bad crap. I really like the box design. will be uploading photos in the future with gold expeditions!

I needed to buy a new metal detector for my treasure hunting adventures and this metal detector has everything that I was looking for. The precision of the dsPIC microchip is advanced and the 10-inch pure copper coil widened my search range while I was detecting in the woods. I was able to detect multiple types of metal at my local park that I was not able to detect with my other metal detector. I have been able to find jewelry and coins using the all-metal mode and I detected silver coins from the 1940's using the DISC mode. I am a taller person and with the adjustable rod I am able to walk without discomfort or pain while using it. I was able to connect my headphones and hear a distinct difference in sounds for each metal I detected. I tested this detector in a local creek and it is waterproof. If you enjoy treasure hunting in the soil, water, or sand this detector is reliable for all conditions. ... show more

Easy to put together and has a cool storage bag. It is also easy to use, my kid figured it out right away and was able to understand the graphics. But most importantly it entertained my husband and kid for hours!

The instructions are lousy - they do not explain what all the numbers and symbols mean. Tried to find my property markers and it was beeping at everything with numbers flashing everywhere from 3 to 90 - with no idea what those numbers meant. We ended up digging multiple holes and finally dug a hole about 3 feet square just to find the property marker. What a waste of time and money. Got this for daughter's birthday. When opened the screen seemed scratched (maybe a used unit???). It's a very simple device. Easy to assemble. A little bit heavy for my 7yo daughter to move around, but she loves it. We first tested it at home (hiding metal items in shoes or under books) and it did seem to work. Next we tested it on the beach and we did find bottle caps (under about 1" of sand). So it does seem to work. ... show more
