This is a very nice product at a very reasonable price, well designed AND put together. I was looking at fixtures as one we had went out and we wanted a rustic looking light for next to the couch. So, I went out to furniture and other stores and gulped when I started seeing multi-hundred dollar fixtures that did look nice, but NOT that nice... So, off to Amazon I go and I found this and hey, it was very reasonably priced all things considered. So, it comes within two days as promised, I take it out of the box, very well packaged, in fact kind of a pain it was so well packaged, but admittedly well protected and I put it together and what do you know, it is a very nice light particularly as a reading light over your shoulder and it looks good without demanding your attention. it is simple but looks realistic (like a really big stick) and it melds into a "rustic or Craftsman furniture set up very nicely. It does not stand out, just provides a very nice light with you noticing it every so often and going to yourself, you know that is a nice light. Now as for putting it together, I suggest getting someone who understands how mechanical objects are fit together. If you have problems with Ikea or other items that go together like chinese puzzles, you will reach a point where you might find it problematic getting all the pieces to line up with the pre-inserted wires. This is the ONLY place that is problematic. DO NOT FORCE anything to go together. Once you look at it, you realize there was some design genius involved in this. By keeping all the pieces linked the way they did, they eliminated a whole lot of steps in putting it together that would have flummoxed a lot of people but they created a point in the assembly process where you need to have a small AHAA moment. Mechanically inclined people will get it and appreciate it. Those NOT mechanically inclined will start cussing and forcing things and think the whole thing is a POS. So, get a friend if you are mechanically challenged. ... show more

    • Absolutely my favorite lamp.
I bought this lamp as a themed addition to my family's "treehouse." It was a finished fort built by trees but independent as a play space for my kids. It occupied the perfect corner of that entertainment space for several years, and we enjoyed the warm, themed light. We recently moved, and there is no more treehouse. Now the lamp occupies a corner of my home office, where it is a constant reminder of my kids' youth and it invites them to visit me "at work" anytime they want. I was slightly hesitant to order this floor lamp after reading some rather off-putting reviews about quality and packaging but decided to order anyway and take my chances (Amazon has a great return policy). It arrived this morning (love 2 day shipping) and as you can see from my photos it only took me 16 minutes from the time I opened the box until I had the lamp completely assembled. Now it might have taken a few minutes longer had I bothered to read the "Assembly Instructions" but I rarely do that unless I run into a problem - which I didn't. The lamp came with a very good quality 3-way bulb but since this lamp doesn't accommodate that type of bulb I can use it elsewhere (Thanks KenroyHome). After finishing and looking over the Instructions I note that they say a bulb is not included but a wrench for tightening the lamp to the base is included. I didn't find the wrench but got a free bulb so that evens out. I'm not super excited about the on/off foot switch, but that's only because I've put the lamp behind an end table, so the foot switch is inconvenient. It will be a simple process to change over to a pull chain if I need to. NOTE: My only thumbs down on this product is the styrofoam used in the packing and that's just a personal matter for me. ... show more

This lamp is perfect for my Forbidden Forrest décor, but if I had it to do all over again I would pick a different lamp. The packaging makes it almost impossible for a single person to unpack and put together without damage. You see, the base is under the fragile post (which comes in two pieces with the cord already threaded) and I could not find a way to remove anything without tearing up the styrofoam. I suggest at least two people work on setting it up. The only way I can think to get it out is by flipping the box over and taking everything out while still in the styrofoam. I have no idea how I didn't crack mine. It would have been SUPER easy to do. Please don't try to put this together alone. Unless you are an extremely patient person, you will be frustrated by the packaging. But now that it is out, and together, I love the lamp. I'm not crazy about the floor switch, but I can always hook it to a remote outlet. ... show more

I bought THREE of these for my kids' rooms and they just arrived. They are exactly as pictured. Some people might think the lampshade looks a bit cheap. I think it's paper and honestly I might upgrade them later. But the rustic look is perfect. It blends with my hygge rugs and looks good in a masculine setting like my son's room but also in a more contemporary setting. Easy to put together and appear to be well made. ... show more

The lamp comes in horrible packaging, the joint where the two pieces join is extremely noticeable and the two pieces dont match up at all, the nut that holds the lamp onto the base is nearly impossible to tighten down all the way with a normal wrench never mind the puny piece of stamped sheet metal they call a wrench because it is recessed about an inch into the base with barely enough room to get your fingers in to hand tighten it. Even if you could tighten it down properly, the base is to small and to light to actually support the lamp on carpet and probably even on hard floors. The cheap plastic ring that holds the lampshade on has already broken into pieces because the lamp tips over if you LOOK at it the wrong way. Stay clear of this over priced hunk-o-junk. ... show more
