For what you get in this package and the quality of the tools, the value is ridiculous. I shopped around a bit at brick and mortar stores and obviously this was a great deal. But even online looking at the other packages this was the best. 2 things that made this the best choice was that it came with that green mat you can cut decals on and, you are hearing this right, an electric motor nail file that is similar to a cheap Dremel tool. I thought the electric nail tool would just be a gimmie and I wouldn't use it, but I was wrong. Shaving off some of the extra plastic on some of the parts of the model I worked on was a great use for this. The metal sanding files are amazing. I'm not super crazy about the knife that came with it, but I am chalking that up to a preference thing. Overall, 5 stars. I gave it 4 on the "For Beginners" part only as some of these tools you just have to have been making models for a bit. But honestly anyone can use these. So I bought this kit along with the Tamiya beginner kit just in case one or the other wasn't good. Turns out I wound up with two good kits. Pros: Excellent bang for your buck Portable High quality cutting board The tools are nice and sturdy. Cons: The nippers are pretty dull and a little bigger than you need for cutting gunpla parts out of their runners. The tweezers are, I feel, unnecessarily sharp so be careful. The cutting board while high quality is somewhat smaller. Ultimately a nice kit. Especially just starting out. It comes with a "drill" I have yet to try it. It's doesn't look or feel like much. It looks like it was supposed to be a tool for manicures. But again for the price it's not bad. The biggest downside to this kit is the nippers. ... show more

This is a great starter kit if you're just getting into plastic models like I am. Has all the basics. I have added a few things that it didn't some with but overall a great kit.

    • Solid kit at a decent price
Nice assortment of tools. I especially like the flush cut nippers. They give a really clean cut. The only drawback is the sanding sticks. The hold up fine but don't get a fine as I would like. I wish there was one more stick with a finer grit. All in all, well worth the price.

Just getting back into modeling after (too) many years and these tools are perfect … the pliers, tweezers and knife are easy to handle and the cutting board fits well on my laptop desk … but, the grinder was the most pleasantly surprising tool in the kit … not only is it great for smoothing plastic trim, it works as a paint stirrer using a small rod I had around. At 70, I welcome any advantage I can find to work with fine details and small parts … this kit fits the bill PERFECTLY !! ... show more

The quality is clearly low, which I was really trying to avoid while shopping around - keep in mind that this was not the cheapest option. If I had to rate the quality on a scale of 1-10 I'd say it's about a 4.5. Good enough to get a few jobs done but clearly not high quality. My major complaint is that the side cutters are poorly machined, designed, and assembled. Cuts are irregular and the two blades do not line up, nor is there a way to tighten them up since they are riveted together. For a lesser price I'd say this was a good deal, but I don't see the current price as being an appropriate fit to the quality. I actually expected a little bit better for the money. ... show more
