Description

SansAmp Bass Driver DI Effects Pedal. The SansAmp Bass Driver DI has been an arsenal staple for players and studios almost since the day it was introduced in 1994. This multi-function, multi-application pedal dials up big vintage tube tones, bright modern slap sounds, gnarly distortions, and all in between. Since the popularity of 5- and 6-string basses has gone beyond fad status and become mainstream, Tech 21 added a switch to adjust the bass frequency to extend into those lower registers. They also added a mid-range control and a switch to adjust its frequency. The core of the SansAmp Bass Driver and all of its tones remain true to its original design. CONTROLS Presence: Controls the amount of definition and upper harmonic content Drive: Adjusts the overall gain structure and overdrive Level: Regulates the XLR and effected 1/4" output levels Blend: Allows you to mix the direct bass signal with SansAmp Tube Amplifier Emulation circuitry (which is particularly useful for basses equipped with piezo pickups) Bass & Treble: Active EQ controls, specifically tuned for bass guitar, that cut or boost +/- 12dB

  • My new favorite pedal
This has quickly become my favorite bass pedal in my collection. It pairs well with just about every other effect I have and adds a whole new dimension to the sound. If you play bass with distortion, you will find this especially handy. The EQ segment of this pedal thickens up your sound adding definition to a distorted signal so it's more musical and less "fizzy bass." This paired with a Proco Rat and a treble boost makes for a great Justin Chancellor-esque tone. While its effect is, in my opinion, much less pronounced with a clean signal it still adds depth to the sound. This pedal will also provide a creamy powertube style distortion if you crank the drive a bit. My personal preference is to keep the drive dial at about 11 o'clock and use another distortion pedal for a heavy sound while the Sansamp on its own just warms up the clean tone a bit. I haven't played without this pedal on since it arrived. On top of all of this, the DI out makes recording super easy. If your interface provides phantom power, you can use it to power the pedal as well. I haven't bothered fussing with micing my cabinet since I got this. Definitely recommended if either you do your own recordings or want a distorted bass sound that doesn't sound awful. ... show more

  • Awesome Bass DI/Pre...
This is an excellent DI/Bass preamp. Outstanding bass tube emulation. We had a gig in a small room. I decided to use this and fold back the bass in the monitors. The sound man very much appreciated and I got glowing compliments on my sound. Right tool for that size venue. Also, this is what I use for rehearsal. Every bassist should have one for backup in their bag of tricks. I highly recommend it. I don’t believe there is a better product at this price point.., ... show more

  • Perfect substitution for bass amp.
I purchased the SansAmp because the team I am working with has been moving steadily toward using IEM setup. This means no more dragging my bass amp with me, which isn't going to hurt my feelings. :) I did a fair bit of research and spoke to another bassist who had nothing but good things to say about this device. I really appreciate the flexibility in tone and functionality of this device. The fact I can use both active and passive basses is another great benefit. The support from Tech 21 is also great. I had some questions and I felt a call would be more efficient and they were more than happy to chat with me. I definitely recommend this product. ... show more

  • Love, Love Love it
The Sansamp bass driver gives you many tones bass players are searching for. Use it with your amp or go ampless and use it as a Di box to front of house it works great. As a gigging bassist for many years I am always in the market for something that not only sounds good, but it needs to be durable to handle the rigors of the road and this pedal is built like a tank. If you are like me and need to invest wisely in your gear, then this is a must have in everyone's gig bag. Rob bassist 49 years ... show more

  • Highly Recommend this for D.I. Bass Guitars
Got this for my bass connecting directly to a Behringer XR18 digital mixer. I thought my Ibanez SR300 sounded pretty good just direct to the XR18, but decided to try this and I definitely think it improved the sound. I like how the instruction booklet gives you several different presets that you can adjust the knobs to, to get different sounds. If I were to buy one again, though, I would probably spring for the one with the programmable buttons so it's easier to switch sounds. I have a really nice warm tone dialed in now that I like for all the music we play. Construction feels great and comes with a tin box to keep it in (although mine came heavily dented). The XR18 is able to power this through phantom power, so I don't even need a battery or wall adapter. ... show more

  • I bought the sansamp as I have decided to use ...
I bought the sansamp as I have decided to use it for live gigs. No more lugging a bass amp/cabinets for me. Direct to the mixing board and monitored through in ear monitors. This unit sounds outstanding and more than one person come up to me after a gig and compliment the tone. I wish I would have made this choice years ago. The sansamp is 5 stars of excellence and professional quality sound. ... show more

  • Versatile
I wanted to add tube warmth to my bass system. Even though it's tube effect is simulated , it does the sound very well. This seemed the best match for the rest of my pedals. Surprisingly it has a nice clean sound also. I'm able to dial in any sound I'm looking for. It saved me from buying a tube bass amp, which I was prepared to do, if this didn't meet my expectations. ... show more

  • Nice unit! Shipped wrong though.
Works rather well, once I learned where I needed to place it in my effects chain! Tutorials are hard to find on these! FYI, put it last I'm the chain, as you would with any DI box, but before the Looper/sampler, just as with any effect. But, I'm glad it made to me undamaged. It was packaged in a bubble envelope, when it needed to be in a box! ... show more
