This is a very good Dado set, The blades are sharp and it leaves the bottom of the dado flat and clean. It comes with a lot of shims so it has great adjustment capabilities. The case is what you would expect from Dewalt, sturdy and well thought out. NOTE, there was a number of comments about the fact the blades are not 8" they are 8 1/8". I don't have a Saw Stop so this was not an issue for me ... show more

This 8 inch stacked Dado set is absolutely the best value for the money. It comes with two outer blades and 6 Chippers (4) 1/8-inch, (1) 1/16-inch, (1) 3/32-inch and 4 each of .005, .010 and .020 shims. All comes is a very nice case! For about a "C" note you get a smooth running, smooth cutting dado set. This is probably better than the entry level Freud sets, but maybe not 100% as good as the higher line of Freud sets, but it's also about 80 buck cheaper than those sets. I see no reason to spend the extra money. Also, even though my mid-90s Delta Contractor Saw states to not use 8 inch sets, it seems to run just fine, no stalling, no hesitation, no complaints whatsoever from my saw. Very accurate and can be set within a few 1000's of an inch. Just a slight bit of grooving at the bottom, but in my opinion non-issue. It will hold glue better and cannot be seen anyway. Great product.

Perfect kit for the table saw. This presents a great toolset for doing clean balanced dado cuts with a briefcase style carrying case. Having it all in a nice carrying case helps keep it protected and organized to store and grab and go. Great performance with easy setup with a full chart for determining which shims to choose for the desired cut width and the cuts are clean.     • Good tool, poor case

I purchased this about 6 months ago for a project that my customer cancelled. It arrived on time and in good condition. I especially liked that they included a table of which blade and in which order to place them to create different dado widths. Since then, I have used the kit several times and have been very pleased with the blades. The only thing I am unhappy about is the case. I didn't use the kit initially as the project I purchased it for had been cancelled. When I did open it, I discovered that the screw holding the dado blades in place had snapped off. It wasn't like this when I received the kit. It had broken off over time in storage. I contacted dewalt about getting the case replaced but they won't replace or sell me just the case which is very frustrating since having the case to protect the blades was one of the reasons I selected this kit. It is also very hard to close the case without the blades or spacers falling together in a jumble now. Since I'm stuck with it, I will drill out the existing plastic stud and replace it with a metal stud. The poor support on the case and the inability of dewalt customer care to provide me with a solution are the reasons that I did not give this product a five star rating. The case may sound like a trivial item but my business involves me going with my tools to customer houses to work and it costs me money when tools get trashed if they are banging or rubbing together in transit and as i'm sure everyone will agree, these blades are not inexpensive! ... show more

    • Great dado set, classically-sturdy DeWalt case!

I purchased this set to create drawer slides as well as various dados on my many home projects. I'm an avid do it yourselfer and not in the building trade, so I've no idea how the quality of these blades compares with the professional-grade blades. The cuts made with these were smooth, straight and really good. The instructions slip into a slot within the inside plastic case cover and one bonus that I found incredibly helpful was the quick reference chart that shows which blades you'll need to stack for various widths of dados. The typical sturdy and "bulletproof" DeWalt plastic case is well made (I actually thought of that 70's and 80's era Samsonite luggage tv commercial featuring the gorillas throwing and stomping on the luggage and thought this case would likely survive that type of abuse as well). In addition and on the inside, it features heavy plastic threaded rods with plastic wing nuts to hold the 2 main blades in place, as well as the chipper blades. My only "complaint" was with regards to the 3 sets of shims which sit in circular recesses in the case as I felt they should have been designed with some type of hold- down to keep them in place as a slight bump with the lid open will send them flying. I didn't feel this small design oversight was worth knocking the rating down as it has nothing to do with the performance of the product, and is likely the result of one more corporate bean-counter cost-cutting decision. All in all, I'm very satisfied with this dado set and highly recommend it to those that want value and quality. ... show more

    • Clean cuts, no chipout great dado set

This is the best dado set for the money out there! this is my 4th dado set, including a freud set. this set has a 4-wing chipper, and has marked shims and is easy to set up. I have been well pleased. The case is really nice as well, and keeps all the parts secure for storage. Delta also puts their label on this same set. From what I've been told by factory reps, this set was highly researched among woodworkers and cabinet shop operators with an eye on getting it right and affordable. In my opinion they succeeded! I have used this dado set for building cabinets for a bathroom remodel, and every dado and rabbit cut has been very accurate and without chip - in red oak. This is a better set than the freud pro set I have, and also the old style delta that I owned. The set-up is easy with all the chippers and shims clearly marked with fractional thickness identifiers. Really good stuff! Highly recommended! There are other dado sets on the market that are just as good, but they are very pricey. Some sell for nearly $300.00 or more. ... show more
