  • 4 Reasons why this is a must-have toolkit for Tamiya RC
I was hesitant to get this since being outside of the US, it's quite expensive for what it seems to be. However, it is worth every cent. These are really high quality tools and the kit shines in 4 main areas: fit, magnetic tips, the handle and upgrades/rebuilds Fit: As mentioned in other reviews, Tamiya uses Japanese Industrial Standard screws which are slightly different than regular Philips screws, but significant enough that you're always on the edge of stripping a screw, and since these are JIS, you don't have that problem. It sits secure and makes it much easier, and quicker, to fit everything. Magnetic tips: This may seem like a minor thing, since magnetic tips are quite common, but the magnets on these tools are quite strong, meaning it can easily pick up a screw and place it in position, or lift it out when unscrewing. This is especially handy for tight and awkward spaces...and if you have big hands. Handle: While the handle gives a great grip, for me it's the feedback it gives. If you use a moderate grip, you can feel when the screw is tightened just enough. The handle sort of slips slightly. Maybe it's just me, but I've found this incredibly useful once you get the feel for it. Upgrades/Rebuilds: It's one thing to get the screws in with a regular Philips screwdriver, it's a nerve-wracking story to get them out again when you (inevitably) want to do some upgrades, or a rebuild. Since the fit is so secure, it makes it super easy to remove the screws and lift them out (see comment above). Honestly, if you can afford it, get this set, you will NOT regret it. And if you can't afford it, save up for it, it really is worth it. ... show more

  • The fit you need for Tamiya hardware
Nice set. The JIS standard is what you need to fit your Tamiya just right. It is well made and will last. Very happy with it.

  • Must have for building Tamiya kits
An absolute must have for any Tamiya RC kits. Tamiya uses Japanese screws that are slightly different from philips, so if you don't want to risk stripping the screw then you should get this tool set before building your kit, the screw drivers are really comfortable to hold in the hand, they have amazing build quality and are very durable. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Good tools that fit Tamiya RC cars hardware.
If you build Tamiya RC cars then this is the perfect tool set. Fits the hardware in Tamiya kits perfectly. Only used it to build one car so far, so can’t say much about durability yet. For the price you get every tool you need at less than $30.00. As long as it’s durable then it will be a great value. ... show more

  • A must have for any Tamiya enthusiast!
This set is an absolutely must for any Tamiya enthusiast. It has the basics you'll need for almost any kit whether its a static model or a RC car, and most importantly the screwdrivers are JIS style so they will work better with the provided hardware than a "regular" Philips head would. The allen keys and nut drivers are also very nice for those extra small parts usually found in Tamiya transmissions! The handle for it isn't the most ergonomic design ever, but it will do the job and has dual functionality as you can use it inline with the drivers or as T style mount. The case makes storing this super easy. I leave it on my modeling table basically all the time. Its a good value and would bundle nicely with any Tamiya purchase! ... show more

  • pretty good but not great
I've been using this set for about a year now. The JIS cross point hold screws noticeably better than regular phillips screwdrivers. The hex drivers have held up well. The only one that rounded of I had to cut the tip off, but it is still going strong. The screw that rounded the tip eventually required a screw extractor, so not the fault of the tamiya tool. I tried to use the flat head as a prybar, and the tip broke off. The part wasn't stuck on *that* much, so I suspect the flathead was softer than intended. Otherwise I have cleaned off the mold flash on the handles, since it was noticeable. ... show more
