  • I love, love, love this pedal!!!
I've waited several months to write this review so I could really use the product. It takes some experimenting and adjustment to get the Trio to play what you want it to. You basically have to whittle down your idea to the basic chords and figure out the beat you want from the drums and play/strum the chords to that beat, then once you hit the playback button it'll play back what you want to hear. I will also say that I use this with my slide guitar tuned to open E and I can play riffs and it will usually come up with a cool bass line for the guitar riff. I do have the external footswitch which helps a lot as well. I recommend you use this through a small set of PA speakers and with some reverb or delay. I actually use delay and a tiny amount of overdrive to get that scratchy, low fi, old school sound. I really can't say enough good things about this pedal, it's made me ten times the player I was just a year ago. It's like a constant, unwavering, band in a box to jam along with. You get your basic pattern going then you can loop guitar chords, add lead lines to harmonize with, the skies the limit. If you can't get this pedal to do what you think it should it might be your technique, your timing, your patience, etc. I can tell you this is the best thing to come down the line in a long, long time. I also enjoy basic looper pedals, but as far as one that reads what you play and adds bass and drums to it in a matter of a few seconds this thing is phenomenal! ... show more

  • Not as intuitive as one may hope.
I find the user interface quite confusing. Everybody says it’s easy to use. I don’t see it that way. All this needed was a Select button and a Record Button. Instead it has an led that lights up in low intensity red, high intensity red, blinking red, same variations for Green and Orange. Imaging all these different combination with 1 foot switch!! You never know how to put it in a record mode, or how to select it for overdub, etc. every time I start, my previous recording is gone. There is no save buttton sometimes it locks up with Audiolystic in green, and there is nothing you can do except to erase and start over. I have seen couple of tutorials, but there they are more into having fun with the playing than doing a step by step and showing the principal of operations why so many different LED colors? It’s difficult. I’ll try to read the user guide again, see if I can make any sense of it. But it’s not something that is intuitive. ... show more

  • Great practice tool
Got tired of playing alone and decided to give this guy a try. Looked at several drum machines but most seemed to be leaning toward the techno crowd. I’m a blues rock guy and this little unit has proven to be a great practice buddy. Still learning the ins and outs but I do love the veriety this unit offers. Also purchased the optional foot switch. I prefer to have the unit on a table and the foot switch on the floor. That keeps me from bending over repeatedly to tweak the band. Well worth the cost and has been tons of fun. Layout is simple and once accustomed to the interface, it’s easy to work with. Read the manual to get the most out of it. Only drawbacks is the drums and bass have the same sound no matter the style. The sound isn’t bad by any means, it’s just not editable to have different bass tones or different drum kits. Didn’t purchase it for gigging, only for use at home. Have probably played more in the last 2 weeks after getting this than I have in the last 2 years! Between this and my recently acquired micro terror, and zoom gx1on stomp box, I want to play every day after work. Next thing I know it’s after midnight and I should have been in bed hours ago! But will most likely do it again tonight. And yes it is that fun! ... show more

  • Super fun, and very useful as a practice tool
Super fun, and very useful as a practice tool. I am hopeful that I can learn to use it as a performance tool as well, given that was the reason why Digitech put the looper in it. It has more patterns than before and the ability to edit songs, which I like but haven't tried yet. It will be helpful for you to get a dedicated amp for the bass and drum sounds (through the Mixer Out jack) such as a keyboard amp so that your guitar amp doesn't blow up or distort. ... show more

  • Simply awesome.
I can now play in a 3 piece band anytime/anywhere I want. This thing is ingenious, and easy to set up. As a bonus, the drummer doesn't get drunk and the bass player doesn't have an ego. Very much worth the money. Note - You have to use this with a clean amp. No distortion, or your loops will sound muddy and horrible. Just put your distortion pedal and other pedals in the Trio's effects loop and you can record multitudes of layers of loops(clean and distorted) and it still sounds awesome. ... show more

  • Complicated
The product is a bit complicated, read: not user-friendly. But it is an amazing piece of technology that does work as advertised. It would be nice if using it for performances was more practical (it is not). My band isn't very tolerant of my trying to use it at practice, either...but I am working on them. ... show more

  • Trio+
Haven’t had time to do a lot with it, I just received it 2days ago. It does seem to function as advertised. It has a lot of options to go through yet but so far I am pleased with it. I have a ditto looper and a zoom drum box also and this wraps everything into one box for an easier experience.

It works, but many of the rhythms it picks up (builds) are far from what I was hoping for. Also the button press to start and end, are sometimes spotty and you need to start over again.
