I cannot state enough how much of a amazing value this reel is. At time of this review, the 70-size reel was priced at $72.99 with a 30% discount bringing it down to $51.09. This reel feels well-built and sturdy. The retrieve is smooth and the drag is solid. I'm a big fan of the power handle, it feels solid and well balanced. This reel will find service fishing for carp and catfish, so having an audible line clicker is a must for me. The Rover has a line out clicker that is comparable to my Abu Garcia reels. The line capacity is top notch and I was able to load nearly 300 yards of 80lb PowerPro braid onto this reel without issue. The Rover is an amazing addition to my tackle collection. Will be buying more of these reels to go onto my rods. It works like a dream and I just love the black color and the fact that it comes with a power handle. Set it up in a few minutes yesterday afternoon and have been fishing with it since. It's smooth ,retrieval speed is good although I mostly cat fish with these reels and speed us not a huge factor for me, casts beautifully. Super happy. ... show more

I ordered this reel to replace my an older and smaller reel. I wanted more drag and higher line capacity. This reel is what I wanted and so much more. I did not know it was this much bigger but I also like to have more than I need so I don't keep breaking them. This reel has it all loads of line room and drag. I have not been able to use is yet but I am looking forward to winching some cats and strippers out of the water with it. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Every professional fisherman knows the quality of Abu reels. So what there another reel with very similar quality. And it is 3 times cheaper. Metal body, rust proof. The media could not be loaded. This reel is amazing for the money! The price at the time of this review is $57.99 minus a 25% off coupon code = Only $42.75! It functions as smooth and has a feel to it that is equal to what I have felt on much more high end gear. I do not get to fish saltwater at my leisure or very often but I do enjoy it and I have to make plans and time for it to happen. This reel fits my wheelhouse perfectly! I get the performance and action that I want and I get to have the gear I need to get out there without breaking the bank 10 times over to do so. Plus it can pull double duty for large freshwater species like striper, meowfish, steelhead, musky, sturgeon if you fancy it and all those biggins out there! Shoot, I could use this to target carp if I wanted to and casting this all day and reeling would be a breeze! The oversized knob on this is appreciated for when I hook into a larger or longer runner and the capacity of the reel is also appreciated so I can let the line out if I want to and not worry about being spooled. The drag and reeling under tension is BUTTER SMOOTH and there are no noises, creaking, or other oddities I have experienced with other “budget” gear. This one really feels like something on a high tier. The reel is done with such perfection I cannot see it rotating with my eyes when reeling…there are no imperfections to catch the eye and it looks like it is standing still! It even came with an exploded view part diagram and assembly reference sheet! I always would love to have that information but I have never got it with budget gear from this marketplace. I was floored when I saw that in the box. Great Job KastKing! Kastking makes some great stuff in my experience. I have a handful of stuff from them and none of it is low quality or has let me down. I completely trust them and I think this reel will serve me for many many years as long as I don’t lose it overboard and it doesn’t grow legs and walk away “by itself.” I love the minimalist coloring on it, it looks really classic to me. The all brass interior is going to be a huge plus for me when I inevitably forget to clean my gear once in a while. Again, I don’t saltwater fish as often as I like and some of the necessary nuances are still forgotten by me from time to time. Did I mention that this reel is SILENT AND SMOOTH?! Even getting the reel to re-engage after making a cast requires almost no effort on the handle and it smoothly pops back into lock and ready to reel back in. This one honestly surprised me and I did not expect it to be as nice as it is for the price point. However, it is what it is and I do feel it is a more than fair deal. I would order this one again in a heartbeat…and I might, in another size to round out my “options and capabilities” and at this price tier I love that KastKing puts out a quality reel and allows me the flexibility to do that and that I can afford to have the gear I need and want without going broke for an occasional use hobby necessity. I would absolutely recommend this reel. It is beautiful in my eyes and I am over the moon happy to have it. I cannot wait to get it in action on some saltwater and maybe an impromptu, sleeping in my truck, intercoastal waterway trip. I am loving it and will probably order another! Good piece of gear right here for the occasional fisherman or even the frequent tripper….I honestly think this is up for whatever a guy (or gal) can throw at it. Great reels for the price if you get good working ones. I ordered 2 and on one of the two reels I purchased the drag will not work. Unfortunately I didn’t realize it till I lined it up and got a fish on.

I like the distance i get when casting. Kept adjusting to maximize distance, went too far and birdnest. Line jumped spool went into side plate resulting in cut line. Does anyone else have this problem? Am using for shorecasting
