  • Excellent and inexpensive.
I bought this bluetooth unit so that I could send Echo Dot audio to my home theater receiver, which doesn’t have a native bluetooth input. It paired easily to the Echo Dot already in my living room, and I connected it to my receiver via the optical cable option, keeping the audio data digital all the way to the receiver. Looks great as it matches up aesthetically to my receiver. I put the unit on a smart outlet so that I could turn it on and off via Alexa voice control, which is handy for times when I don’t need/want more immersive sound, and my home theater receiver is turned off. The Echo Dot automatically toggles back to its internal speaker when the unit is off and connects immediately when the unit powers up. Though the unit has a momentary button for power/track control, it powers up on its own when the smart outlet applies power from shutoff, and the unit remembers the volume setting that it was last set to. The Echo Dot still retains its microphone access. Was very happy about all these things because it makes for a hassle-free, voice-controlled experience. The unit’s sound quality is excellent (expected in keeping an all-digital path via the optical cable connection). Its controls work properly. Audio data is captured and passed on flawlessly. Set it and forget it. The unit is very lightweight. I wouldn’t think it can handle rough treatment well. The kindly-supplied optical cable is stiffer than other optical cables, making its appearance management a little tougher. The supplied USB-C power cable is pretty short. Consider getting a longer one if you need more than a foot or so to power this unit. I have not tried the unit’s USB audio input option. I’m glad I bought this. It was originally an experiment that wound up delivering beautifully and inexpensively. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Excellent product, at a great price.
This little, inexpensive device has amazing sound quality. No hiss, hum, or buzz. When I play music from my iPhone via Bluetooth, with the KAIY receiver connected to a line input on my stereo receiver, the audio quality is exactly the same as a wired connection between my iPhone and my receiver! Bonus feature: The power supply for the KAIY is connected to a switched outlet on my receiver, so electricity is not wasted when I'm not using it. When I power on the receiver, the KAIY comes up remembering all settings, and pairs with my phone instantly. ... show more

  • Needs 5V, 2A USB charger for a Power Supply
I rolled the dice on this device on the cheap. Needed to purchase a usb phone charging brick in order to power it up with the included USB to USB C cable. I should have read all the way to the end of the product description. The price of quality lives on long after the joy of a “bargain” fades. Update: At this point the bargain device is still shining brightly. Customer service for this company is quite good. My device is set up and working well using the optical connection. RCA and mini plug cables are included for input use. This is a very versatile device. The Bluetooth range seems decent. The sound quality seems better than FM radio. I plugged my (separately purchased) phone charger into a switched outlet on my amp so the unit only runs when I need it. I believe a short setup video might help this product sell even more! Enjoying this product from KAIY. ... show more

  • Works great
Works great! Exceeded my expectations. My Bluetooth devices connect flawlessly and great sound quality. Had to try different audio inputs on my older Sony Receiver until finding the MD/TAPE worked. The type C power cord that came with unit was too short to reach any power source. I supplied a longer type C power cord and usb AC outlet plug. ... show more

  • Works as described
Can't speak to longevity as I've had this device for only a week. It works as advertised, easy to install and use. I'm pleased with the purchase and would recommend.

  • AUX channel never worked
I bought this product to add Bluetooth functionality to my existing HiFi Audio Amplifier, but the AUX output of the KAIY Bluetooth receiver never worked. This is an example that the Quality Assurance at these minor Chinese manufacturers is generally very poor because the company - and others like them - seems quite happy to ship faulty units. Thankfully the L/R RCA outputs did work, so I did manage to add Bluetooth to my sound system, but the audio quality could have been better. Given that the unit is not expensive, I suppose it's a case of getting what you pay for One annoying feature of the unit is that it "shouts" at full volume over my amplifier's loudspeakers that a Bluetooth connection is missing when you are 10 seconds too slow at switching on the Bluetooth transmission on your smart phone. I hope that this "feature" is removed from their subsequent models, because the unit's flashing "BT" display is more than adequate to indicate that a Bluetooth connection still needs to be established. It would also be nice if the unit would remember it's last output volume setting after it has been switched off. Given that the unit's AUX output never worked is the main reason why I will not buy anything from this company again. They have to take Quality Assurance seriously or they will lose customers. ... show more
