  • Fun stem toy for 8 y.o.
Good quality and fun. My 8 y.o. enjoyed assembling and likes to play with it now.

  • Very cool for kids and adults
Wish I could give this a 5 ⭐️. Unfortunately, the kids need an adult for assembly, three of the red rods were not good as can see. Also, there are parts where they keep unlinking. I wish they had spare parts easily available like legos. It was a fairly complicated build with the instructions provided, it took me some time to build but my child loves it. I think that parts need to be designed better and have additional spare parts of each just in case one encounters issues. Overall the system is fun to see and is appealing. My son loves it even if I had to solve with tape while I see if they even have spare parts or additional rollercoaster cars. ... show more

  • My first K'Nex build, loved it.
My first K'Nex building set and I have to say it is great. I build it on my YouTube channel if you want to see it in action (search for KTAF in google or on Youtube and you'll find Kid Toys Are Fun). A little bit more challenging to build than say a 649 piece LEGO model, but that makes it fun too. I would say a 9 year old could probably build it but might need a couple of minutes of help now and then. Once built it is great to turn on and just watch, repeat daily! The coaster runs down really smooth and fast, goes back up on the chain, it really is what you'd expect - great fun build and great fun motorized model. Takes a few hours if it is your first K'Nex build. It's big! ... show more

  • Recommend!
We are a big K’NEX fans in this house and my boys have been asking for a roller coaster set. Ages 12, 9 and 6. They needed a little help here and there. If you’ve never done a K’NEX set, it’s not as in depth of directions as Legos. A lot of it relies on looking at the picture and figuring it out. A few trial and errors but overall fun to put together. Most important thing it works great! It’s sturdy and the chain stays on with no problem. A couple reviews said that they were missing pieces, but we actually had a few pieces left over. So no issues with that! Would recommend. ... show more

  • Missing pieces, disappointed son
I bought this back in April for my son, but we didn't put it together until now. We are missing a few pieces that are keeping us from finishing it. Really frustrating.

  • Defective pieces, unclear instructions, but sort of works
The media could not be loaded. First of all, when the product arrived, the box was bent as if it had been opened before and the pieces were strewn around the shipping box (see photo). Fortunately, nothing was missing and I didn't have time to get another present for my son, so I just shoved everything back in the box and wrapped it. The box was unsightly but I successfully disguised it with wrapping paper. Although the box for this item says age 9+, I doubt any 9-year old could build this by themselves. If you buy this, be prepared to spend multiple hours "helping" your child decipher the instructions and build this product. The instructions consist of only pictures, some of which aren't that clear. Two of the pieces were outright defective -- one end of the stick was "bald" so it wouldn't click into the connector piece -- so I literally had to fasten these pieces together with tape (see photo). I didn't take photos of the bald pieces before I put the tape on them. There were no extras of the defective pieces so I just had to make them work. For several other pieces, the snaps don't hold tight, so when the roller coaster zips by, or if someone bumps the structure, the pieces come unsnapped, so we are constantly snapping stuff back together. Also, one piece broke, but I was able to work around it. Finally, the final product has several design flaws. When we built the track exactly as stated in the instructions, the roller coaster car kept bumping into one of the "walls" and stopping. I was able to tinker with the track and reconfigure it so the car no longer hits the side. However, as you see from the video, the car does not roll around the track continuously by itself -- it needs "help" when it gets to the bottom, and this was true even before I reconfigured the track to fix the wall-crashing situation. My son (6 years old) and I had some good "bonding time" building this, even though it was tedious and he complained a bit. He was proud of the finished product and enjoys playing with it, but this is not something most young kids will be able to build by themselves, particularly with the defective pieces, design flaws, and unclear instructions. I was prepared to help my child because he's 6 and the toy is marketed for ages 9 and up, but even if your child is older or very advanced, the issues I mentioned above make this a challenging build, even for adults. ... show more
