This is my first K&N air intake system, after purchasing their filters for years. The hardware seems well made but there were a few quality control problems I ran into during installation. First, the threaded insert that is meant to hold down the evaporation hose fitting seemed to use a M4 insert instead of a M5 insert for the supplied M5 button head screw: I had to re-tap the brass insert and removed a LOT of material to do so. Second, I needed to scrape down the residue along the molding parting-line to get a good seal on the turbo inlet coupler. Third, the grommet used to hold the MAF sensor is undersized based on the wall thickness of the air inlet tube and doesn't seem to seat properly. Speaking of which, I'd rather have a twist-lock fitting like the OEM intake instead of a grommet. The MAF sensor is pretty delicate and if it takes a lot of force to remove/install you risk damaging it. The instructions also leave a lot to be desired. You will for sure need to look at some youtube videos to figure out how to do some of the steps as the instructions can be really vague at times. I think this should have been 2 pages of instructions instead of just one, with a few more photos. All that said it seems to perform well so far. Sounds a little bit louder but only a little. We'll see if I notice any changes in performance or MPG. It does look like you will need to remove and disassemble the entire system every time you want to service the filter, so if you drive in a dusty climate this could be a hassle... ... show more
