Well, after a week of driving, I can now report on the installation and the so-far-results. It did take a bit longer then 90 minutes. I have a 2001 Toyota 4Runner and there was a need, like with others, to drill a large hole (1&3/8")in the intake pipe. Since the pipe is a ...pipe, using a large hole saw to drill on a curved pipe is a bit of a pain. I decided to use a straight drill bit of the largest diameter that I had and then use a knife then a file to make it the exact size I needed. After this is done, you then mount a large, round, flat rubber gasket to the pipe. After doing this I decided to seal around it with clear silicone sealant. After doing this I let it set while I took the old system off and readied the new to go on. It was fairly straight forward after that and rather fun. It does become a bit louder when you put your foot into it, but quite enough when driving normally. There is a definite increase in horsepower as felt and there IS an increase in MPG of about 10-13%. Not a great lot but every bit helps. I do recommend this item but remember, the menu on Amazon does not always produce the correct results. I checked with K&N when I got the first one ordered and it seemed to be wrong. They gave me the correct one model number. I then went back to Amazon and put both numbers (the one I ordered as well as the one K&N said I needed) and they both came back as the correct one for my application. To Amazons credit, they did a return for me as I ordered the new one. Amazon is the BEST !!!

The media could not be loaded. Easy to install, everything fit perfect. Definitely noticed a faster response when stepping on the gas. Also makes the engine sound more aggressive for being a 3.4L😅

Just put this in my 2003 Tacoma and love it! Install took under and hour and only needs a basic mix of tools to complete. I was impressed by how well everything was so well designed and how smoothly it went in under the hood, like K&N built it just for my application. K&N intake, Magna-Flow exhaust, sounds excellent and immediate HP at the wheels.

I bought this air cleaner kit for my son's 2001 V6 4Runner because the stock air filter lets in dust (we live on a dirt road up in the Rocky Mountains) and the extra HP would help too. We are both very good mechanics (frame up restorations, engine rebuilds) and this kit was very complete. It was an easy installation and took less than 2 hours, we could have gone considerably faster if we tried. There is a noticable induction howl when the engine is gassed hard, but nothing compared to an average diesel pick-up accelerating.

The pedal response was an improvement. it’s an obnoxious rumble on the highway.. the charcoal canister line ran post maf instead of pre maf causing multiple fault codes and causing the truck to run lean.. I’ve been having inconsistent performance and fuel economy as well.. The hardware is cheap.. I wasn’t too happy but K&N has awesome customer service though and they did make it right!

Applied to 2000 4Runner. Went on with no alterations. Took a total of 20 minutes including phone interruptions. Gave me about 2 MPG improvement over longer trips. I bought this to improve my pulling capacity for a boat. This little truck did an okay job the year before but with the filter (which doesn't seem like much of a change) it really smoked the 400 mile trip. I like this filter and bought drop in versions for my other cars.
