Instructions are pretty basic, so definitely watch a couple YouTube vids first to make sure you’re prepared. Hardest thing to get around was the mass air sensor harness; there’s a tricky little security clip you have to remove first before the wiring comes off. Other than that, it’s a pretty straight forward install, and the results were 100% worth the price. I put this on a 6.0 vortec and the added power was immediately noticeable even at lower speeds. It also added a distinct rumble at 3000+ RPMs - I’m having a hard time not throwing the pedal down! Great no-brainer addition to your truck whether it’s a daily or project car. ... show more

I read the instructions before starting. It took about 10 mins to remove the factory airbox. About another 15 to install the FPK. It all went together very smoothly. I do not hear any noise under the hood like the instructions said might be present. At idle and low RPM you really dont notice any difference in performance, but when passing and at higher speed you do notice it. Nice little boost in performance. The truck onboard computer is reporting about 3 tenths of a mile better. The truck doesnt hit the highway for long periods of time and I imagine in time the gas mile will get even better. And as a side note, it looks really nice when installed under the hood. If someone were thinking of ordering this and was not really sure, I would say "go for it". ... show more

It's been a great little fun upgrade the truck definitely sounds loud its very awesome when you hit the gas, like music to my ears, if i had to say better than the big old box it had haha, fit great and looks great the instructions were clear though for me it took me a bit since I'm a bit 😀 haha

My youngest son begged me for this as a birthday gift. Usually he researches things but not this time. All this is, is the intake on his truck reconfigured. Instead of a closed plastic box for the air filter, it is open an a few of the turns in the original air intake taken out. Had I know this, I would have either cut open the enclosed box that the original filter was in a purchased a high intake filter, and dammed off the turns in the original so the air is a straight shot in or purchased THE CHEAPEST COMPETITORS PRODUCT i COULD FIND.. My opinion this is a $300.00+ piece of plastic hype., ... show more

I purchased this for my '05 Avalanche 5.3L. As stated on the page it was very easy to install. I think it took me a little less than the 90 minutes stated in the instructions. I noticed an immediate increase in the amount of get up on the highway. I also have a Gibson Dual Extreme Exhaust system on my truck and on the highway it you give it a little gas the roar from the intake completely drowns out the exhaust. I haven't put enough gas through it yet to speak to any mpg increase but I reset my mpg monitor on my truck when I installed it and it does seem to have gone up. Although so far for the first week I've had it installed I've been to into the gas to help my mpg :). I totally recommend this to anyone looking for a quick increase in hp and a little noise to boot. One piece of advice be careful when you are attaching the Mass Airflow Sensor to the mounting plate. The MAS is made of a plastic housing so the screws never really get tight. I had to watch carefully while tightening to make sure I didn't crack it. ... show more

I have an 06 Sierra with the 5.3 liter also. Truck is a crew cab. The installation was easy and quick. The thing I noticed right away was the difference in power and response on acceleration. I had heard that the engine runs a bit louder, but that is only when you put your foot in it. I have heard some say that the transmission shifts smoother also, and I found the same to be true with mine. I was expecting a little bit better gas mileage from what others have said. I also replaced my spark plugs with NGK iridiums and MSD spark plug wires. I have noticed an increase in gas mileage, but not the 2 MPGs listed earlier. I have only had this on for about 2-3 weeks, so maybe I need more observation time. I think right now I'm probably getting about 1/2 to 1 additional MPG with the cold air intake, spark plugs, and wires. I have now been using this for about 2 years. There is an increase in mpg. I would guess that it is about 1 mpg in the city and maybe 2 on the highway. I have noticed with my truck that the octane of the gas makes the most difference though. With this filter and 93 octane I can get about 22 mpg if I stay at 65 or below. I did just make a trip where I averaged 70-75mph and my mpg averaged about 21.5 (with 4 adults in the truck). Aloha from Hawaii! Like many of you reading this review, I was hesitant about the ability for a bolt on product to increase power AND mileage. I had monitored mileage from the time I bought the truck (07 Silverado Classic Extended Cab with 5.3 motor) and noticed a definite increase in mileage! Although I don't have any dyno results to show for it, the motor pulls harder and longer. Overtaking slower traffic while going uphill is effortless! Just have to remember not to keep the go-pedal punched too long or the increased mileage will run away from you! All in all, an awesome product at a great price with long term benefits! I have a 2005 Gmc Yukon.I have flowmaster exhaust, and hypertech eco programer.With this cold air intake and the other listed upgrades my yukon now gets 18 city/22 hwy. Which is a great improvement, because before I did the mods I was getting 14-15 city/ 17 hwy. I bought the used one from amazon warehouse deals, The item came in original packaging with all original parts and did not look used at all. (I do not think it was used at all) The intake was fairly easy to install. I have no car mechanic skills and i could do it. Make sure you assemble the intake box outside the truck way easier to do. I used the youtube install video to help me with the install. The Intake along with the other upgrades really did work for better mpgs. Its all about driving habits as well. Before I started this project I could not find any one else on the internet who did the same mods. So if you are wondering if this will work for mpgs I am here to tell you that it really works. ... show more
