  • Worth Changing from K&N Air Filter to K&N Intake
Best price is at Amazon vs K&N. Immediately hear the difference and feel it in the power. 20HP gain on the engine would be statistically significant, but the K&N testing is for gain at the wheels!! The auto industry tests at the engine, and power is lost as it translates through the mechanics to the wheels, so it is a really significant gain. The Escape is fast off the line even with a light foot, and now it's even faster!! Another thing you'll immediately feel is the much smoother shifting in the throttle linkage, which is where the gas mileage improves. I do 15-20 mile, one-way rural driving, so the speeds are up and down with speed zone changes, stop lights and stop signs. I have already seen improved mileage. If this is your first intake, you'll read the instructions about listening for strange noises and think the intake is a strange noise. You'll hear the sharp, almost rough sound of the air being forcefully drawn into the intake by the hungry turbo. Soon, the sound will seem normal and soothing. That's when you can listen for any rattling, etc. Come back and tighten, every so often. Tips: Assemble inside prior to heading outside. That way you'll read through the instructions and feel comfortable with the project AND not lose anything outside. You'll need a 5/16 socket for this project; certainly if you open a 2013 SE 2.0 Eco. The heat guard does NOT fill the gap between the intake pipe and the opening in the heat wall. Now you don't have to scratch your head wondering what you did wrong. The pegs do NOT lock into the factory grommets, at least not on mine. They are a bit thinner, so they merely sit in there. The bracket that fastens to the old intake site at the front of the Escape engine bay, is what really holds the Typhoon in place. Tighten and recheck periodically. Add the filter cover, color of your choice, to your purchase. You should definitely protect the filter from all manner of small leaves, twigs, insects, and other debris that comes into the engine space. Anyone in a rural area can definitely attest to opening their filter box and finding all sorts of things. Yellow looks spectacular under the hood and it's a quick wash and air dry item! ... show more

  • Free breathing
Really helps with getting air to the engine. Gas mileage suffers a bit, but power is better. There were a couple of times when it really helped me get out of a potential accident, needing to accelerate quickly!

  • 2017 Escape 2.0 Titanium AWD
Price of this CAI is fair. The improved throttle response is great in drive and noticeable in Sport. It does fit the 2017 Escape 2.0 Ecoboost. It has not been tested by K and N and they will advise you it's not made for the 2017; there is no issue with fitment on the 2017. I am unsure if the hood is supposed to seal on the top of the CAI and maybe it does but I can't confirm. I'm not sure if the 2017 hood changed from 2016 or not. You can definitely hear the difference but it wasn't to drastic for me. I am considering a muffler delete so I like to hear my cars (obviously it's not a sports car). It was over 90 degrees outside and I still felt it gave a stronger pull. A reputable tune will greatly increase your HP on these cars. Your better to get the tune than the CAI but for the price the K&N CAI is worth it! ... show more

  • Not really worth it.
Gas mileage didn't improve, difficult to install. Slight increase in power but produces a lot of noise. (sounds like a metro bus)

  • Worse than the K&N stock drop in
I installed this and then just verified the car would run. I did not test drive until my Monday morning commute. While commuting there was a very noticeable increase in turbo sounds and blow off. It wasn't annoying until I got phone calls and everyone I spoke to said "what's that sound". It made my SUV sound like a riced out civic. I got no noticeable increase in power and gas mileage actually dropped after installing the kit instead of just using the normal drop in K&N I had installed last year. I am a heavy footed driver sot I was only averaging 23 MPG. After installing the intake that dropped to 21. During the installation there were a few things that just didn't make sense. There are 2 cold air ports to the front grill. These are plenty large and did not have an restrictions. Same for the filtered air side. The hose was plenty large and did not have any tight curves. All of this was removed to install the heat shield form the kit. To me, this just allowed more hot air into the intake. Also, the pipe just loosely fits into the heat shield. Not at all what I would expect from a $240 intake. There is nothing worth $240 here. I will be returning it as soon as I can remove it from the car. ... show more

Great Product, takes time to install, but once installed one sees the benefit

  • Great Product!
I love this! it sounds great and loud. My car does have better performance as well as gas mileage!

  • Easy install, guaranteed horsepower!
Easier to install than I thought. Fits perfectly (2015 Lincoln MKC, 2.0 turbo). Definitely helps throttle response and acceleration. Has not increased or decreased mileage. I do have a long trip coming up, so I may need to amend this.
