  • Beware, panties may drop when you drive by!
Might have lied about the mileage part. Only because I race around town with my windows down to listen to that sweet, sweet low 3k rumble, followed by a surge of air allowing for better throttle response. When I do hit the highways I do notice a jump in mpg's, not much, but over time I'm sure its saving money. I also notice I dont have to downshift as often when accelerating. Its confident in the gear I'm in. So it's easier on your transmission for the average driver. I hooked it up to my obd2 scan tool both before I installed, and after I installed this intake and the numbers show, initially the engine temps are higher (temps at throttle body). That's to be expected in standstill traffic or at idle. But once you get moving g. The air temps drop down considerably. And when you're flooring it, watch out. I've seen temps go from 115° to 82° in a matter of moments after flooring it and switching gears. That is both good and concerning for those in sit and go traffic. I may suggest a performance filter instead of this intake system. This is not a concern for me, I'm rarely sitting for more than a few moments where I live. All in all, I like this system. It's easy to install with basic garage tools, and it sounds better too. I'm not entirely convinced the mileage for me will ever improve (leadfootitis). But it's clear that something is to be said about the air flow under load reducing the air temps. And any car guy knows, lower air temp, higher compression, more power. Spend the money and find out for yourself. ... show more

  • Great upgrade
Really easy to install, comes with detailed instructions, adds nice little intake whistle between 2k-3k RPM and a little bit of a growl, not really gonna help with fuel efficiency, more air equals more fuel being needed to level out ratios, intake elbow is made out of plastic which I would rather have be made of aluminum but some heat wrap helps with that, otherwise a great kit and upgrade for 323ci ... show more

  • doesn’t fit without reworking the parts
bought this intake and tried installing it today to realize multiple parts of the intake don’t even fit into each other and don’t fit on to some of the oem parts. the actual intake doesn’t fit through the heat shield so you’d have to cut a hole bigger to make it work and the plastic replacement hose they send you doesn’t fit onto the maf sensor properly if this intake was cheaper then i wouldn’t really care but if you’re spending over 400 for an intake i would expect the parts to actually fit… ... show more

  • Very nice! On a 2002 325i
I purchased this back in June, and wanted to wait awhile to actually review it. It's been 6 months with it in and I'm happy with it! It produces a nice, throaty growl when you push it past 3000rpm. No annoying whiny noise you hear on tacky cheap cai systems on the market. Gas mileage I can't honestly say has changed. I went from about 17.9 mpg to 18.1 in the time I've had it on, but I also drive it pretty aggressively and in really bad la traffic. The car definitely has better acceleration however, noticeably different from before it was on. Installation was relatively easy if you've done any work under the hood on the e46 before, you can always YouTube it ;) ... show more

  • K&N Best Value for Your Buck!
2005 BMW 325CI Cabrolet On this mod, I had to do several retrofits. First off the hose adapter supplied was only good on a single side of my Factory OEM MAF. So I had to cut the hose adapter in half and attach to both sides of the MAF as you can see the pic. The rubber housing I do not trust becoming undone as it has to radically turn several corners so I simply cut to fit along straight lines. The vacuum line sticking straight up has a nice brass valve fitting molded into the K&N Boot but the 5/8 inch extension hose is way too long and and one end way to small of a opening for my stock valve fitting to be inserted. I had to drill out carefully one end and cut the length in half. I opted for the dry Filter Cover which I trust will keep the filter clean of dust, be aware K&N says replace in less than 2 years. Filter is K&N Quality, the best in the business. The housing you have to manipulate so the MAF find its way into the hole. Be aware that since I was removing my stock upper boot, I decided to replace my lower boot as well. I removed the DISA valve for better access as well. Use carb cleaner into the intake as a added boost. Car started right up and instantly I could tell a lower DB rumble and test drive at higher RPM's a distinct lower decibel level and even a cool snort when vehicle is turned off. No codes! K&N book says 90 minutes but job is much longer if you do everything I did. More like 3 hours. Looks like a pro install. a solid 4 stars for the product but the installation was not fun. • 2003 BMW 325i
2003 BMW 325i Installation: Very simple, make sure you have some sockets for European cars for an easier install. Lots of videos on Youtube on how to install these filters. Also, recommend buying some mass air flow sensor cleaner and using it during the install. Performance: The air intake gives off a very nice sound when accelerating. There is a whining sound at lower speeds, but after around 30mph it is not noticeable. I have not been able to determine if I am getting better MPG. About 2 weeks after I installed this product, I received a service engine soon warning and found a P0174 code. I did some research online and found out that most people solved this problem by buying the MAF sensor cleaner and cleaning up the mass air flow sensor. I did the same, and the code is now gone. I doubt that the code was a result of this product, but still recommend the cleaner as you will be removing it during installation anyways. ... show more

  • Not enough parts
I have a 2002 325ci and the package didn’t have the parts I needed because the intake pipe doesn’t directly hook up to the original intake pipe so I had to run to the store and get a intake coupler and I had to cut the one that came with the kit in half and use it on the maf sensor and the intake filter so it’s a little janky ... show more
