  • Was Skeptical, but it really works very well!
I bought this thinking any improvement is good for under $300, but I already had the square K&N drop in filter and saw no change, but I thought I'd give this a try... much to my surprise it I noticed a difference immediately at all RPMs, even startup. The install was a bit more involved than I thought it would be because you need to re-locate the ECM and TCM, I also thought the TCM would get too warm being so close to the exhaust, but after reading many reviews about it on LS1tech.com people have had no issues with heat. Anyways install aside, the performance and MPG difference was instant. It takes much less pedal to get the same performance as with the factory intake. I don't beat my car so I can't say how the improvements are with RPMs over 3,500, but for regular daily driving I've noticed its much more responsive and peppy, like I woke it up - I even feel its noticeably stronger in 4CYL mode (I also switched to Royal Purple oil the same day so I'm sure that helps a little too). As an added bonus, I see a gain in my MPG by about 3-5 average! So would I recommend this, YES, but plan about 1.5-2 hours to install, and don't worry the instructions are very good (could be better), just be careful and patient. ... show more

  • '08 GXP For The Win!
I'm familiar with K&N technology and I've used their filters through out the years but I never purchased an actual intake system. After reading the reviews I decided to plunk the money down for this unit to install on my '08 GXP. The instructions are pretty clear and easy to follow and the entire installation process from hood up to hood down with an initial test drive was about two casual hours. With the hood up you can definitely hear the rush of the intake sound, which is cool and all but the rev limiter quickly wags its nasty finger. On the road, the noise from the air charger is not objectionable or even noticeable with the air conditioner running and the radio playing. The GXP's are pretty quick cars in stock form but I could definitely tell a difference with the K&N unit. Acceleration from a dead stop is immediate but the system really shines at mid-range to top end. During my initial test run I overtook and briskly passed some (ehem) Harley bikers at speed. One of bikers gave me the middle finger for my effortless display of power. That alone was worth the price of admission for the K&N unit! I'm not sure of the fuel efficiency yet because I haven't put in enough miles yet. I'm neither a hot rodder nor a speed freak. I'm a very casual daily driver that simply wants a bit more performance when I want the extra power to pass a bunch of weekend warrior village people wannabes. ... show more

  • tough fit on grand prix
2006 grand prix gxp. it fits in but it's very snug and was tough to get on. car has a nice throaty noise now, definitely a noticeable amount of more power now too. depending on the ambient temp it will be about 20° warmer especially when running the car for awhile but in the cooler temps it'll be colder than ambient temp. on the obd2 scanner it has read close to 200 g/s during wot. directions were extremely helpful but confusing to read at times . I'd say it was definitely worth the purchase for what I was looking for ... show more

  • Works like a champ. Install takes some time
I have installed a few of these in different cars (03 Mustang, truck) and this one took me the longest to install by far. Works as it says and deffinatly gives the engine a throatier sound. Edit (12.10.12) I have had the unit installed on my 2006 Grand Prix GXP for approximatly 7 months without any issue. Great product. ... show more

  • Missing hardware
For 300 dollars I don't get why I had to diy AT ALL. I didn't receive both silicone adapters I only got one and don't even bother reading directions I think a Chinese guy could explain it wayyy better and I also wouldn't be missing parts.
Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2023 by You'd think for 300 dollars it'd come with everything you needed.... I was missing one of the two silicone sleeves that go on both sides of maf sensor had to diy another one on there. Not cool and definitely won't get another one ever again.

  • 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP Performance Upgrade
This kit is easy to install and the it looks great under the hood. It has increased my fuel mileage by 2 miles per gallon and gives the engine a healthy growl. I would definitely recommend it.

  • Awesome and easy way to add horsepower!
I had been eyeing this for a couple years but just did not want to fix something that really wasn't broken. So, I couldn't believe my luck that while checking my stock air filter one day both the locking tabs broke. It didn't take me long to determine I could purchase this air charger for less than what it would cost to replace with the stock air box and I couldn't be happier. Engine breathes and runs better and the easy access to clean is great. Well worth the investment. ... show more

  • It works
Very noticable increase in throttle response after installing on my 07 Monte Carlo SS. The rubber grommet that gets installed in the plastic elbow was by far the most difficult part of the assembly (physically). Work instructions could use some revising as some of the wording and graphical representation of the parts is unclear and hard to read. ... show more
