I ordered this Jura E4 as used-like new. It arrived in like new condition although marked "refurbished" there was no sign of pre-use, only that one minor additional part was missing for adding pre-ground coffee which mattered not at all to me, I will use only whole beans. The machine is operating perfectly. I wanted a machine that made perfect drinks with no need for a milk frother as they all stop working within a year or two, the pumps wear out, the cleaning of them is a nuisance, so much easier to use a stand-alone milk frother for those drinks. Phenomenal Machine. It makes delicious cup, after delicious cup, of coffee. And if you like tea, a turn of a knob spits out hot water. The grinds end up in the little bin inside and it's so easy to empty. It is a premium product, but it comes with premium features. For example: It has an extra chute so you can sidestep the coffee beans loaded on top. (for example if you want more coffee cause you love coffee... but it's already after 3pm. so you want decaff). So you can drop some ground coffee in the little chute and get a custom single coffee. Only I didn't realize the little chute required ground coffee!! So I put whole beans in... It made a bunch of noise, but never spat out the coffee. And the light on the front for selecting the side chute was on. I was cursing cause I thought I'd have to spend the day taking this thing apart.. Or worse yet, I somehow damaged it... How could Jura do this to me?! How could that tiny little emblem count as a fair warning?! Why not include a strainer at the top of the chute?" They did none of that cause they took the premium route. Somehow sensed beans instead of grounds and tossed them in the grounds bin! The light was just saying "I'm waiting for grounds bro, you going to do it or what?" No fuss... even when you mess up. I initially bought this for work. But now I'm getting myself one! At my last company they were rocking a 16 year old Jura. No issues at all other than occasionally running some tablet things through the machine. ... show more

    • Works well and makes good espresso - but I don't like symbolic interface
I have had no complaints so far on actual performance, and my guests have all raved about the quality of the coffee and espresso it makes. So overall I recommend it. But here is why I can't give it all 5 stars: the symbolic icon interface is a big step backwards for Jura. Would it really have killed them to use an interface that used words (like the older C65 did?) The flaming round "eye" for cleaning, the bucket with a drop under it (empty grounds) vs. the bucket with drops inside (fill water) - required consulting the manual the first couple times I saw them. The yin/yang "beans" lights vs "spoon icon hovering on pile of something" (for the grinder bypass) is also not obvious to a new user. All this is fine if you never have guests who want to use it - but unlike the C65 where the words made it obvious ("EMPTY GROUNDS", etc.) I have to give an instruction seminar to each new user. I get that they saved money on language localization, but for a machine this expensive it seems overly-cute to the point of being nearly incomprehensible. I'll also note that the plastic housing and tray also feels "cheap" compared to the metal-housed C65, but it looks OK. ... show more

Very happy with this machine. It's my 4th Jura (I wore out the others). It makes great coffee and cappuccinos simply by pushing a button. The only con is the filters. If you don't buy the Jura branded filters, it doesn't recognize it and the filter light stays on even after it's been replaced. They put a chip in the filter so it knows if it's a Jura filter or not. Plus, it will put it into descaling mode automatically since it thinks there is no filter. I wish I could bypass that. ... show more

eCommerceCO is NOT an authorized dealer, so there is NO WARRANTY on this unit if purchased from them. I contacted them through Amazon messaging and they have not responded. Their price is basically what you would pay from any other authorized dealer. Go buy from Williams Sonoma so you get a warranty! As far as the Jura E4 is concerned, it makes great espressos and Americanos. Add water and beans, then push a button. As one would expect, there are lots of moving parts inside. After 5 months, something broke internally. I found a piece of white plastic in the collection tray after it failed. Now Jura wants $400 to fix it. Not happy with them either. If they allow eCommerceCO to sell their products, they should honor the warranty. Note to eCommerceCO - contact me to make this right and I will revise this review. ... show more
