  • Great! But can have issues
Color: Piano Black
This mirrors the review by MC (the top review at the time I am leaving this). The machine showed up, was easy to set up, and made excellent coffee. It was such a pleasure to use! It prompted us for a new filter (fine, but these are a bit pricey), and for a cleaning cycle. These went fine, and we figured we'd just keep these on hand. Then, the coffee started coming out very slow. Then, just a drip. Then, nothing. It would grind the coffee and "try" to make it but nothing would come out of the spigots. So frustrating. We tried de-scaling, re-cleaning, and calling (couldn't ever get through). Then I saw MC's review, and tried this. It worked! I was skeptical because it didn't seem like I did much, but suddenly coffee is spouting out again. So, 5 stars for the quality of the coffee, but I'm taking a star off because this was frustrating and there was nothing about this in the manual. Lucky another reviewers shared their experience. ... show more

  • Great coffee, but issues after 3 months - Customer support helped fix
Color: Piano Black
I give the coffee a 5 star. Customer support was slow but helpful. At first the machine worked perfectly and made great coffee. A couple months in, issues started to present. The water filter sign came on, which I thought was too soon since we had only had the machine for two months, using it about twice a day. We replaced the water filter. Then a week later, the cleansing icon turned on, so we ran the water cleansing tablet through the machine. Shortly after this, the spouts began to clog and only drips would come out. Contacted customer support, which responded a day after. They provided a helpful solution. In case anyone else has this issue, here is what worked: Take out the entire drip tray assembly. Look inside the cavity where the tray inserts into and locate a flap that hangs from the ceiling that resembles an ice scraper for car windshields in the winter. The flap's function is to discard the used grounds. Reach behind the flap and up for a flat round metal surface, slightly bigger than a silver dollar. With a damp paper towel, clean off any grounds on that metal surface. It is the tamping screen. After that, reinsert tray and attempt to make coffee. While the grinder is running, adjust the fineness selector to the coarsest setting. ... show more

  • Nice new machine but need to work out some kinks
Color: Piano Black
The E4 is easy to use and setup. Makes excellent coffee (I like Americano). It looks good. Larger water and bean capacity is a welcome improvement. However there are a couple of kinks that need to be worked out. We had to return our first one (about 6 weeks after we bought it) because we weren't able to go through the cleaning process when the icon appeared. It just wouldn't go through the cleaning routine as described in the manual. Customer service required long periods on hold. One rep implied that since we bought it on Amazon we needed to go through Amazon for service. Eventually he told us we had to return it and they would fix it and send it back, leaving us without a coffee maker for a number of weeks or months...............no good. We contacted Jura again and got a different rep who sent us a new machine and a prepaid return label for the old one. The new machine works fine so far but the cleaning icon hasn't showed up yet. I would say that Jura's customer service is below average especially considering the price of their products. Okay after a few weeks using the new machine the cleaning icon came on. At first it seemed that we had the same problem. Then we found a YouTube video showing the cleaning process for the E4. It turned out that the "problem" was operator error. It works fine. My only gripe is that the slope on the bean container is too shallow and the beans don't fee into the grinder without manual assistance. ... show more

  • 3rd Jura machine
Color: Piano White
I have the Z6, S9 and now this. If I am ever to buy another coffee machine, this would be my choice. My other machines have many more features (that I very rarely use). But this one makes better coffee at 1/3 the price. My only complaints are you can’t do a 12 oz dirty long and you can’t use taller cups easily. It if you want good coffee and espresso, buy this. ... show more

  • Great for 6 Months, Now Dead
Color: Piano White
If you’re looking for a short term coffee solution to get you through a few months of great coffee, this machine is for you. Easy to use, very convenient, makes a great cup of crema. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, just straight espresso and coffee which is exactly what I wanted. I’ve been diligent - religious even about replacing the filter on time, using official Jura tablets for descaling and cleaning. Over the last few weeks, coffee started to come out of the spouts slower and slower. Now it won’t make coffee at all. It’s clearly clogged somewhere. As a last ditch effort. I’ve run 2 back to back cleaning and descaling operations (yes using official Jura tablets). Nadda. She’s done for. Jura support has been useless. Placed multiple calls and no real results. I’m sure if I take the whole thing apart piece by piece I could fix it, but that’s not what I do or how I want to spend hours of my time. So I spent $200 a month for 7 months of great coffee. Funny to think I could have actually saved money going to the local coffee shop every single day. ... show more

  • Worthy
Color: Piano Black
We had a jura A1. Great machine but after about 15000 espressos it died. Slowly at first and then just too many minor issues to tolerate. But it was well appreciated. Replaced with this one. It is more expensive but we wanted something with larger water and bean containers. Makes game changing quality espresso, like the A1 (before it choked). This machine will make you dislike most espresso stands. The coffee, with the right beans, is unmatched. Oh and I’ve made thousands of espressos by hand on old school machines. I know a good shot when I see it poured and when tasted. Expensive. But when this dies in 15K+ shots I’ll buy it again. You can’t get better. ... show more

  • First cup is the hardest
Color: Piano Black
The initial set up was a bit clunky and the instructions are not intuitive, but once we got through that, it has been flawless

  • Beans do not reach the grinder
Color: Piano Black
The E 4 makes good coffee when it works Unfortunately more often than not the Bean container is not able to supply enough beans to the grinder through the horizontal slots. So the grinder does not have any coffee beans to grind.
