I bought several desk top mikes to add sound to my old silent 8mm movies which I spent hours converting to .mp4 digital. THIS ONE is the ONLY ONE that works! I bought a cheapie at $4.99... You'll find it, looks just like this one, but has a 3.5mm jack that goes into the mike input jack on your computer / laptop. It did not provide more than about 2% volume, muffled sound. So... stick with ANY of the Jounivo mikes. They range from about $11.99 (model JV610) to $16.99 (model JV601, this one). And, they ALL seem to be pretty much the same -- mute button, LED indicator (green when mike is 'open', red when muted). They call two models the "pro" models (JV610P and JV603P) for $16.99 same as this one, but I'd bet they ALL work just great about the same as this one! I was just so happy when I plugged this one in (USB) and it worked immediately. No settings required in my computer. And the voice was clear and strong. I think it comes with a silly 2 year warranty. I doubt you'll need it. This will probably work just fine for 20 years! And, they package it so neatly in a little cardboard box that you know cost them $2 just to create and ship! And, it comes with excellent instructions how to log into your computer settings if it doesn't work immediately as mine did. ... show more

I just needed a cheap mic for speech-to-text and hoped I wouldn't have to lean over and breathe on it every time I use it. Well, I don't keep it within my reach and it doesn't miss a word. It stays out of sight and out of the way so I don't have to bother with it. It has a knob for sensitivity and a touch sensor for muting which is preferable for conference calls. It's better than expected and even works well messing around with AI voice cloning. Not bad for under twenty bucks. I think I've been using it for a month now. The only thing that could go wrong is if it falls apart but it feels solid so we will see. If it quits working I'll be back to edit this review to include the date even if it's years from now. Very pleased with my purchase and recommend to anyone trying to sort through all the garbage products for something of quality at a low price. (I didn't rate it for gaming because I use headphones but I may try it out just to see how it works. I'll leave an edit if I do) ... show more

I've been using either a Samson Go Mic or and Audio Technica AT2020 for years but I left home without them, and not wanting to spend any serious money on a temporary fix I purchased this "cheap" mic to hold me over. WOW! The SQ on this mic is very, very good, and at this price point it is nothing short of amazing. I can't speak to off axis sensitivity, but it does seem to dampen ambient noise to some degree based on a couple of tests recordings I tried in a coffee shop. Most mics at this price point are simply omni directional regardless of what the description says, so seeing some directionality was an unexpected surprise. Should work well to reduce room reflections and HVAC noise. Build feels solid and the goose neck is stiff to hold mic where I want it. This mic is being used to produce preliminary voice overs for a documentary, so people are paying for the work. The engineer I sent the files too said they sounded great, and that's all I needed to hear. Very happy with purchase. ... show more

I *only* gave this mic 4 stars because it's clearly not made for recording vocals and I know that's exactly what people will buy this for ... It's great for video games, Zoom videos, and online meetings. It's pretty decent quality for as cheap as it is, however the build isn't cheap at all, it's made extremely well. The base is metal, the on/off toggle is touch activated not a button like the old model, and the mic stand part is metal, not plastic, it holds the position and best of all it sits right on the desk, not on your face. It's absolutely fantastic and I'm ordering a second one for my family for gaming. Are there better mics? YES. Does this one get most of the job done? YES. Should you record music vocals with this? NO! If you want a solid mic that's made well and still sounds impressive for what it is, get this mic. I miss these from the 90s and this seriously delivers. ... show more

It serves it purpose. I purchased this to trouble shoot a non-working mic built into my laptop. This mic works, but the ability to pick up sound is a bit weaker than I expected. I need to keep the mic close to me for it to sound half decent. If I put the volume for picking up sound to 100% I get "feedback" so that is not an option. ... show more

Very simple design, and fixed the issue where my headset would not let me speak through the internal microphone. No volume control, it has to be done manually in the computer, but there is a mute and unmute button. Green is unmute, red is muted. I bought this microphone because I needed one for my Zoom class. I was skeptical given it's price but the reviews were good. I decided to give it a try and I was impressed. Considering how much it costs I was very surprised. The only thing it stopping me from giving it 5 stars is the USB cord length. I wish it was longer. I have my PC on my desk so it's fine. I thought if I hooked this up to my laptop that it would keep the translate mic on since it otherwise turns itself off all the time.
