Description

The lightweight Jiffy Hand Auger features a unique flip-down handle that locks into place with a lever, flipping down for ease of carrying and transport, or flipping up for drilling. Two chipper-style blades are made to efficiently chew through the ice, and the auger length can be extended up to an additional 24" in thicker conditions via an adjustment bolt. Blade protector also included.

I’m not an expert or ice drill aficionado so maybe this thing is a cheap piece of junk, but it’s the first ice drill I’ve ever used. Today I easily bored through 26” of ice in two different locations and I thought it worked amazingly well. It bit right into the ice and started drilling down with no effort on my part. I was surprised by how easy it was to crank and how quickly it drilled through the ice. I timed myself on the 2nd hole and stopped to telescope out the handle and restarted for a total time of around 1 minute 45 seconds. I wasn’t trying to go fast and was careful to pull it up and out of the hole to clear the shavings. It was in the 40°F’s so the ice was likely softer than it would be typically? In any case I was pretty impressed at how easy it was to drill by hand. I like how compact the unit becomes with the handle folded over and telescoped to the shortest setting. I also like not having batteries or an engine. This can now hang on the wall indefinitely until I use it again next winter. Nothing to maintain, perfect! ... show more

    • Best hand driven ice auger
This auger worked extremely well! The fold up upper section makes it easy to carry and store. Blade cover could use a catch clip or be a bright color to help keep track of when detached from auger. Overall great purchase!!
