After ten years my old 8”ION ‘s battery was starting to give out. The blades probably needed replacement, too. I decided to get a new 10” ION that was on sale. I’m very glad I did. It’s noticeably lighter and seems to reopen holes much easier than my old one.

Bought auger new last February 21st, 2025. Never used it other than testing to make sure it worked and I fully charged the battery. Stored indoors until yesterday. Battery level indicator on battery showed red. Tried charging and charger only blinks red, won’t charge. Not even a tiny amount of power to power head. I’ve never drilled a single hole and I have what appears to be a junk battery, charger, or both! My Jiffy Model 76 gas auger ran flawlessly for 35 years and I gave it away for this piece of crap! ... show more

I've now had a couple of seasons to test this electric auger. It has performed magnificently. The blades are first rate, able to cut through everything from hard-frozen ice to refrozen slush. The battery has held up longer than I have - I've cut as many as 20 holes a day, through up to 2' of ice, without any noticeable deterioration in performance. The battery recharges fast and holds its charge even in very cold temperatures. I recommend this auger without reservation. ... show more
