In 2016 we brought you the AT, Andy Timmons artist signature pedal and we're really proud to bring you the next iteration of this phenomenal stomp box, The AT+. The JHS Pedals AT is Andy Timmons signature overdrive pedal that gives Andy his unmistakable lead and rhythm tone. Upon purchasing a JHS Angry Charlie in 2013, Andy began using it as his primary tone and soon after got in touch with Josh Scott about modifying it for his needs. Through going back and forth and tailoring it to Andy’s tastes, the “@“ was born and eventually released into production in 2016. This pedal gives you all the soaring overdrive and distortion that you hear from Andy with plenty of options to craft your tone with your rig. So pay Attention and we’ll see what makes the AT rock.

Quick highlights: - the amount of configurability is insane. For example, there’s a center switch meant to replicate high end tube amps at different wattage - Does the work of multiple other pedal and then some. It’s not just an overdrive pedal, it also acts a tube screamer with its boost button - Matches the sound from the pros b/c it was designed for a pro Andy Timmons who shreds blues & rock - May not be for someone who wants a more metal sound but then I’d just put a metal effects pedal in front of the AT+ b/c it will only enhance your existing sound with its versatility I found this pedal being reviewed next to other high end Marshall in a Box type of pedals & I was blown away at how smooth and warm it made every note. And I was not disappointed when I finally got one myself. Every pedalboard should have this pedal (or something similar). It made the mid to lower range amps I tried it out on sound like amps 10 to 20 times more expensive. I’ve heard it played on even better equipment and it just sounds that much better. So regardless of whether you have a low end or high end amp, have the JHS AT+ plugged into it. It’s solidly built. Worth every penny and then some.

I don’t know why it took me like 4 years to write this review. I’ve loved this pedal from the get-go, and I want to tell you a bit about it. Like many of you, I love guitar pedals. I love collecting them and I love switching them around on my board. I love finding new tones with them. I love the tactility of pedals. I love the look of pedals. Pedals are great. I own many drive pedals, including several from JHS, and they’re all awesome in their own way. Yet none are as dependable to me as the AT+. Many drive pedals have various value-add features, like a robust EQ section, etc. But at the end of the day, the main thing that I need from a drive pedal is a solid distortion that isn’t so boomy that it ruptures my spleen while sounding like it’s coming from 12 feet underground, and isn’t so harsh and fizzy that it slices my head off after boiling my brain. And especially, a distortion pedal that doesn’t have just one very specific sweet spot that you may not even find unless you’re already in the “IYKYK” camp. The AT+ sits right at the center of what I need a distortion circuit to be. It crunches right where I need it to and is viable at pretty much all positions of the Drive knob. The onboard Boost control is a built-in circuit to turn on when needed for your lead breaks. The Tone and Air give control over shaping, and the toggle to “attenuate” between 25w, 50w, and 100w (each with its own corresponding compression) is the icing. Put a JHS Haunting Mids after your AT+ for additional shaping and boosting of everything before it in your signal path, and you’re ready for the stage (extra fun: kick on your Haunting Mids to break up the clean channel in your tube amp, then hit your AT+ Boost circuit to push it further, and you’re driving without even having turned on the AT+ distortion circuit yet — SO many activities). Signature gear can be tricky: the artist attached can be one who we greatly admire, and in Andy Timmon’s case especially, one who is renowned for their tone. But on the flip side, signature gear is designed for an artist based on that artist’s brain and hands and particular needs, not yours or mine. So you may get that piece of gear, and wonder why you just can’t get it to sound good. Not a problem with the AT+. This one is for all of us. If you’re looking for a distortion pedal that you’ll always feel sure about, the JHS AT+ could be that pedal. It is for me.

I'm a fender clean stratocaster tone guy. This thing is very different than my preferred tone but in a good way. To me this is really a pedal for heavy lead tone that sounds great with delay. This is a lot of distortion. This is not a overdrive or something to play rhythm with. My favorite part about the pedal is actually the boost without the distortion. It pushes my Fender amp just perfect and sounds amazing. Obviously there are probably cheaper ways to have a boost pedal but I thought I would share that anyway. Overall this is a wonderfull pedal.

Mine came with the sticker, rubber feet, and pin button, but no Gravity pick. Disappoint. :( Great sounding pedal, though a bit dark (some day "warmer"), but you can get extra brightness from your amp, especially with a Marshall. It's best for solos, and not great for rhythms. The touch dynamics and rich harmonics help create singing solos that can bloom into feedback very nicely. The tone also has the right midrange punch that most other "MIAB" pedals don't get. This pedal and the Andy Timmons HALO, are a match made in heaven. However, there are a few things I really don't like: The toggle switch's order should go from 100 - 50 - 25 top to bottom respectively, so you don't have that loud jump between 25 and 50. I wish the normal button (left) LED was any other color than red. Two red LED's is confusing when you're working with a whole pedalboard live. Oh, JHS, why did you do this the "cheap" way? ... When both switches are on, when you click the left switch off, the Boost side still remains on when it should put the pedal in full bypass. You can still perform a bypass if you click both switches at the same time, but that's the inefficient way to do this, and could cause problems if you don't stomp both switches correctly. I have no need for "just" the Boost side independently, there are better pedals for that. The better way to do this, is to make the Boost's LED only serve as an On/Off "status" signifier showing it's "readiness" for when the pedal is engaged by the left switch. For example, with the pedal in full bypass, the Boost function is never engaged regardless of its LED status; it only shows you its On/Off "status" for when you engage the pedal with the left switch. When the pedal is engaged, the Boost switch should still turn the Boost On & Off as usual, but then when you click the left switch, the whole pedal is in bypass mode. One more thing: as far as the Boost LED's status goes, why not make it flash when the pedal is in bypass mode to show that it's "ready" when the effect is engaged by the left switch? That'd be super deluxe! Then there's the "BEST" way to do this: keep both methods of functionality, and make them a switchable via a dipswitch inside the unit. SUMMARY: Great tone is what this pedal is all about. However, the physical design is less than professional grade. If the design was improved, it would feel much more like a professional device. I'd pay more for a version 2 of this pedal with all of the improvements I mentioned.

Its sounds fantastic. The boost button works even when the drive is off, so I have a Boss Metal Core turned almost all the way down next in the chain after the @, and the @ is a perfect boost in front of that pedal. PS: The @ doesn’t like being in front of an Ep booster, but is fine after an Ep booster. Very sweet sounding pedal.

Context: I am an “amp and guitar” kind of guy. I love the tone of a cranked vintage Marshall and its dynamics. I get my clean tones by rolling back the guitar volume. I play Strats, Les Pauls and p90 equipped guitars. I was looking for an easy way to get that kind of creamy, beautifully dynamic and expressive distortion in a pedal, to make my life easier and save a few ear drums.. First impressions: i have never tried anything that comes as close to the real thing as this pedal. It is a joy to play. You will hear its sound on the many youtube reviews, but the key seller is how this thing feels under your fingers. I literally cannot put down my guitar. Josh nailed it. I particularly love the 100w headroom-y setting. Smooth, dynamic and assertive distortion that cleans up beautifully as you roll your guitar volume off (a must for me). Give it a go folks, you won’t regret it. Rock on!!!
