  • Great!!
Pattern Name: Overdrive
So many options and they all sound great!! Can go from slight OD to borderline distortion and everything in between. Each stage is very unique. Stacking a Tube Screamer in front of this has been absolutely amazing

  • Amazing drive pedal - very versatile and exceeded my expectations
Pattern Name: Overdrive
I've tried most of Walrus Audio's drive pedals over the years, and ended up parting with all of them. I much prefer their modulation pedals, which are almost always great. However, the Ages caught my attention, and I'm amazed how much I like it. It really can be dialed in for any guitar and amp combination, and has very usable drive settings throughout the five modes. Everything from light, transparent gain to Marshall thickness and beyond. It probably wouldn't be considered much more than a medium gain pedal, but within that spectrum are a lot of great tones. While it might lack the specificity and character of a lot of drives, that is actually the Ages' greatest strength. Stacks well, comparatively quiet - great pedal! ... show more

  • The blend knob is useless , absolutely does not blend wet and dry signal
Pattern Name: Overdrive
I would love this pedal if I could control the ratio of dry to wet signal There is even a knob for it but it goes from wet signal to wetter signal no dry at all making lt very limited !!! I would even pay more to modify or upgrade it to fix that if I could

  • Awesome!
Pattern Name: Overdrive
This thing sounds great on my Fender Bassbreaker 30R. It sounds good on its own too, but it sounds best when working with other distortions. I own several Walrus pedals, and none of them have disappointed!

  • The invisible pedal
Pattern Name: Overdrive
I ordered an open box pedal for $149.99. I received an empty zip drive box. Amazon gave an immediate refund over the phone! Thx! I went to Musicians Friend and bought a brand new Ages pedal on sale for $109.99. it is absolutely Awesome.

  • Very high quality pedal, Great low gain tones
Pattern Name: Overdrive
Really impressive build quality. Looks awesome on my board, and all of the knobs feel very sturdy and smooth. The bypass switch is smooth and nearly silent so it feels great to turn on/off. I also really appreciate the top mounted jacks, always make it easier to fit on a board. As for the tones, I was quite impressed with how it sounds. A good amount of headroom, and a decent range from low to high gain. All the modes sound pretty solid and were all pretty useable, though there were definitely some that stood out more than others. -Mode 1 felt a little thin, but generally a clear and light transparent gain. -Mode 2 was my favorite as it sounded the sweetest, with good clarity with a hint of a mids bump and some top sparkle which made it really nice for bluesy leads. -Mode 3 was a nice crunch, a little looser than 1 & 2, sounded good for chords and general hard rock sounds. -Mode 4 was higher gain but not defined enough for me. -Mode 5 was a good high gain sound, and a little tighter than mode 4 which was nice, good for some chugging, and maybe some hard rock leads. Overall, I found I stuck to modes 1-3 mainly as that was where it sounded best to me. The higher gain modes aren't bad, but just mediocre when compared to actual high gain pedals. I'm mainly more of a low gain blues guitarist anyway so the first 3 modes were really all I needed. I have a Friedman BE-OD for when I want to go high gain, and this wouldn't be replacing that. I also appreciate all of the eq knobs so you can tweak your sound a bit. I also found that it sounded good no matter where you set the eq or how you stacked it with other pedals, all the sounds were useable. It sounded best to me boosted by a Klon style pedal. I didn't quite get the use of the dry knob, but it did have a subtle impact on whether the tone was more saturated (dry off) or a little more subtle/transparent (dry full on). I do wish it had a Mids knob though. I love a tubescreamer tone and with an option to bump the mids I feel like this pedal could go from a nice clear transparent drive to sweet mid focused leads even better. One reviewer online called the voicing of the pedal as "somewhere between a bluesbreaker and a tube screamer" and I'd agree with that. A great quality, beautiful looking, all around low-mid gain drive that almost any guitarist can find a use for. ... show more
