I needed an engine hoist for just one job. I bought an LS from a friend who had a Harbor Freight engine hoist and I needed to move it from my truck to my shop. I was shocked at how flimsy the HF product was. The Jegs hoist is very well built. However, this review really isn’t about the quality of the Jegs product but the impressive service from Jegs. When I received the hoist it was apparent that the container had been dropped from several feet above the floor by the shipper. Upon unpacking and inventorying the contents, it was clear that several pieces were missing. I have an array of fasteners in my shop so was able to replace the many bolts, washers and nuts that were missing. Unfortunately, two of the six castors were missing and the hydraulic jack was inoperable due to the negligent handling by the shipper. I took several pictures of the hoist as I unpacked the shredded container. I called Jegs and they asked me to send photos of the damage (always take pics of damaged containers!). I sent them the photos ( about 18 total) and received an email the next day that I would be receiving the missing and damaged parts. This email came on a Sunday; I wasn’t expecting a reply immediately and certainly didn’t expect a reply on the weekend. I was very impressed. Long story short, I received the replacement parts exactly one week after submitting the photos. Maybe that doesn’t sound especially prompt but I had three feet of snow on my back deck that week so deliveries in my area were delayed by several days in my area. Kudos to Jegs for the very fast service.

If you are looking for an example of poor packaging, this is it. This engine lift arrived at our dock strapped to a pallet. A box contained the smaller hardware and such. The box had pieces sticking out of it. The yellow painted square tubing was metal band strapped to the pallet loosely. They had been moving around so the paint was scratched/smudged. Spent a few hours assembling this, just to be almost complete and realize the jack was missing from this shipment. What good is a engine lift without a jack. Maybe I can use this for a scooter at the park. Should have bought a used 30 year old engine lift at the flea market... Very disappointed with JEGS. Update 01/08/23 JEGS gladly shipped an additional jack to replace the missing one. It was damaged in transit and according to the shipment tracking app it was on hold and JEGS made zero effort to send another until I contacted them. After wasting more time telling them I needed another they finally sent the jack. It arrived in a flimsy, single flute corrugated box, no wonder the original was damaged in transit. This company is a joke at best. They never offered anything to restore confidence in their crappy outfit after asking multiple times. I asked for a refund at one point, thinking I’d just get to keep the incomplete engine lift when it seemed the jack never would arrive. They told me they’d send someone for it and I would need to disassemble it. Most companies would have cut their lose at this point, but not JEGS. They’d rather spend more in labor, tormenting the end user than providing their product in quality shipping boxes. Honestly, sending a courier for an incomplete engine lift if laughable, I’d imagine JEGS has $30 in this from the factory in Asia. At the end of the day, it’s assembled and ready to use after a month of struggle. Just be warned JEGS cares nothing about you or customer service, just as long as they can bill your card. Thanks JEGS for a miserable transaction. I hope you’ll treat customers in the future better than a used piece of toilet paper.

I was very impressed with the price but ran into three issues. 1. It was being delivered on a semi (free freight shipping, woo!). very inconvenient but i got it 2. All of the bolts were either missing or the wrong length. 3. After buying all of the new bolts from BoltDepot (wonderful store, didnt know it existed). I found out that the jack is leaking underneath the handle. Maybe it’s supposed to because how else will it breathe but surely not… They did offer a $20 refund to buy the bolts but I haven’t decided on what to do about the jack… I’ve also attached an image of what bolts you will need in case yours is missing the directions (wouldn’t doubt it)

Simple clean unit. Did make an adapter and battery tray to use a 12VDC ATV winch in plastic the provided chain/hook to speed up lifting. Very poor assembly diagram. Nuts and bolts not clearly identified as to correct installation, more of a trial and error to guess the correct installation.

We are very pleased with this item. Using it to take an outboard motor off our boat when we’re gone. It allows us to easily move the motor into a locked storage area to secure it. Was very easy to put together. 5 stars
