TLDR: Clear sound, enough base for a solid ‘thump’ (although it does drop the low-end notes), and 10+ hours of battery, depending on volume. I bought the Flip 6 to carry at work. I’ve had opportunity to compare it to several similar sized speakers, as well as other entries in the JBL series, and I can unconditionally recommend it IF you are looking for the specific niche it fills. The Flip is lightweight and small - about the maximum size and weight that could be toted comfortably hanging from a belt or backpack. It has enough bass to hit a great mid-beat (think reggaton drums), but low-end bass notes tend to get dropped. If portability isn’t a consideration, I recommend spending $30 or so more and picking up the Charge 5, which boasts about 30% more power, and almost double the battery life. On the other hand, the Flip is definitely the best I have seen for its size in terms of volume, range, and sound quality. It ought to be, for the price. ... show more

I purchased 2 of these... one for my wife and one for me. We have electric bikes and go on long rides with them. Previously my wife was the one with a speaker and I was without... however, her speaker (it was a Sony) started acting up so we looked into something else. We found these and decided to order 2 because you can share the music with a 2nd (and probably more) speaker(s). We just received them today and we are very impressed with them! It is awesome to be able to share the music between the two speakers using the 'PartyBoost' feature. We tested them out and were able to get about 25 yards apart and the music was still pumping without skipping a beat! :) If you are looking for a small speaker that can belt out the music then I highly recommend this product ... show more

JBL Flip6- I had the Flip5 saved in my wish list for some time. When I finally decided to buy it, I saw they had newer model (Flip6). This device is amazing. Solid built and easy-to-use. The sound is unbelievable for a device of this small size. The sound is rich and deep. It uses Wave technology where the sound runs through a internal channel to increase its richness. (Similar to the Bose Wave Radio) Very impressive sound quality and it doesn't distort when on it's highest volume. I'm not sure of it's Bluetooth range, for I'm sure if you walked out of it's range, you probably wouldn't hear it anyway. I believe the difference between the 5 and 6 is the 6 can be linked to other Flip6's to sync the audio between them all. Perfect for parties so sound will be everywhere. ... show more

This soda can blows me away. When I first saw it, I thought this small thing is going to be a disappointment. Boy was I wrong. It plays classical, it plays rock, it plays it all beautifully, powerfully, clearly, and deeply. I recommend this product. If you’re looking for something small, portable, with outstanding sound. I would like to add, this works fantastically for classical music, however it is a bit strained if you listen to powerful electronica. Anything with heavy percussion might push the speaker. The JBL replaces my old Trelab 77, which I had for a couple of years. The Trelab was an okay unit, it was just built with some less expensive parts - the charger was a mini USB; the female connection slowly but surely deteriorated over the years to the point where it wouldn't charge. This unit uses a USB C connection which is much sturdier. Second, the sound is better; the bass mid and treble are all crystal clear. I don't think it's as loud a the Trelab, but the clarity and quality of the sound more than makes up for the slight volume loss. I really like the JBL a lot. ... show more

I just received my JBL Flip 6 yesterday, charged it up, and hooked up the Bluetooth to my phone. Then, to test it I put on a YouTube recording of "I Won't Dance" (Sinatra with fantastic big band and arrangement by Nelson Riddle). BLEW ME AWAY!!! The sound of this little unit is fabulous. By the way - I have a Bose TV Sound Bar which cost twice as much as the little JBL unit and the JBL blows it out of the water. This speaker plays music very well and has pretty great bass. It's easy to use and set up and also has an app that will let you adjust the eq of the speaker. It's very portable and has a party mode button to connect to other JBL speakers. The only complaint I would have is that it might not be AS loud as other speakers but can still get pretty loud. I've noticed the speaker goes on sale often and that's what made me decide to buy it. It was a decent price for a JBL speaker. ... show more

    • Won't stay charged when plugged into charger

I decided to get one of these as an all-purpose speaker for my home office. It's a great little speaker 90% of the time. I leave it on and plugged in to a 20W USB-C charger, even when it's not actively playing. Problem is that even when it's plugged in 24/7 it's still drawing down the battery faster than the charger can keep up so that every few days, it just dies and turns itself off.
