    • Witchcraft? Voodoo? Something this size shouldn't sound this big!

I've owned a few JBL products over the years, and this definitely lives up to the legacy. There's no way something the size of an American Football should fill a 2 bedroom apartment with this much sound without having to be stupid loud. Sound- bass forward while still being clear. High end sounds great, mids are good, bass is great, though it does cut off some super low bass. Battery- I've had it running for 12 hours at a medium volume (which is plenty loud in my apartment) and the battery was still at 20%. 15 hours is believable. Range- about 150 feet, without obstructions. Way more than I'll ever need. Connectivity- I haven't had any issues, when connected to either my computer or phone. Portability- unless you have extra large hands, you'll need both hands or the strap. It's a little awkward without the carrying strap. Added bonus- the strap has a bottle opener built in. Water resistance- it survived a surprise downpour with no problem and that was after it took a tumble off a counter top onto a tile floor (the cat's a terrorist). My only real issue is the fabric coating. It's difficult to keep clean. It grabs every piece of stray cat hair, dust or fuzz that floats by, and could almost be considered a de-shedding tool for animals that rub up against it. I wish it had speaker phone capability like the Charge does. There's been a couple times where that would have come in handy. All in all, it sounds way bigger than it is, has good battery life and if you watch for deals it's worth every penny. ... show more

Was really satisfied with the purchase of this speaker.I originally bought a Sony XG-300 refurbished and the sound quality was garbage.Came in a regular box with offbrand charger etc.After less than a month the speaker blew and the sound quality started sounding like garbage.So I sent it back and got a JBL extreme 3.And i bought it refurbished.Came brand new in the box.Listen to the same music i did on the Sony and the JBL has no problems at all.I put mine on a bike and it sounds great and isn't half as heavy as the XG 300. ... show more

Huge upgrade over my old Flip 4. Love the lightning fast charging, and great full, crisp, stereo sound that JBL is known for. Carry strap makes moving this monster a lot easier. Even with the equalizer app, I do wish the bass was deeper, which is why I give this 4 stars. Got a good deal on this, and would recommend it anyone. It's a good balance if you want something louder than the Flip, but don't need something massive like the Boombox. However, if you want monster bass I'd get the Boombox instead of the Xtreme. ... show more
