  • Wish I'd Done This Years Ago . . .
'02 Dakota 4.7 w/ Magnaflow Y-pipe and Flowmaster 40 Series muffler. This was my "daily driver" for over 12 years of 2x25 mile commutes. At 200k miles, a couple of broken manifold studs prompted the decision to go with headers - and the Y-pipe was needed due to mileage and condition. Removed front wheels and fender liners. The remaining studs were so corroded that burning the heads off with a torch was the fastest option; and once the old manifolds were off, the heat had loosened the studs to the point where they could be spun out with fingers or vice-grips. There were absolutely NO fitment issues with the JBA's - they just slipped right into place - although I did use a die grinder to clean up some internal welding slag and spatter at the primary tube / mounting flange joints before installation. Internet research indicated numerous complaints about fitment issues with Gibson or Flowtech brands, and none for the JBA's. I'm not using any header wraps (although I may add that later), but be aware that the clearance between the primary tubes is pretty close, so even if you have prior experience using wraps it may be a challenge to do an "attractive" install - consider all your options if heat management is going to be an issue for your locale. I've been running with the same Flowmaster muffler, an AFE cold air intake kit, and a PowerAid throttle body spacer for over 10 years; and was always pleased with how well the truck ran after I installed them - but the headers have provided a significant improvement with throttle response, the "butt dyno" impression is better low-end torque, and despite being somewhat more aggressive with the throttle now, I'm seeing a consistent 18 MPG with local / highway driving. ... show more

  • Perfect Fitment & Perfect craftmanship
I am an ASE certified master technician since 1994, and I have installed 100's of headers and other aftermarket parts and in my years of experience JBA is the best engineered, best welds, and best fitment I've ever seen , way to go JBA and PerTronix Performance!

  • Perfect fit. Lot of bloody knuckles though
Perfect fit. Lot of bloody knuckles though. Included bolts were 3/8" head rather than 8mm like the instructions said. 10mm fits, but 3/8" was much better.
