Things I can hardly believe about this bed: 1) Heavy, solid wood without cracks or knots. The whole thing feels sturdy. 2) I was afraid the cherry color would be gloomy and boring, but it's really beautiful. 3) Metal drawer slides with wheels! They open and close very smoothly. 4) Wooden covers for unused holes makes it look detailed and high-end. 5) Fits my kid's 10" mattress... although barely. The rail is a little low for a 10" mattress, so for extra security I stuffed an old painting between the rail and the mattress to act as a rail extension. Super pleased with how well that worked. I imagine you could use cardboard, plywood, MDF board, or plastic panels the same way. ... show more

Keyword: sturdy. All the wood was very well packaged and stout. The hardware was well made, and the finished product is better than I was expecting. The only 'manufactured' wood in the whole thing was the drawers, and a lot of the dowels and all the drawer slides were already installed before I opened the box. It took me around 2 hours to put together entirely on my own. I used a drill and a few different bits to speed the process, otherwise it would have taken a lot longer. Make sure you set your drill torque clutch properly our you're going to strip some holes. Out of the entire project, exactly 1 hole was misaligned enough to prevent me from using it. This blue low-loft bed is exactly what I hoped it would be. Sturdy, easier to assemble than I expected, and just the right height. My 8 year old son is happy with it. This did take my husband and I to put it together- this is not a bed you can assemble alone safely. But it was pretty simple to follow the picture instructions and took us a couple of hours. It did have a smell but it was just the pine slats, so I wasn't too concerned about it. We let it air out a few days before assembling it in our son's room. No odor remains anymore. There is plenty of room under the bed to lounge, read, or play. I can sit up underneath the bed without bumping my head (I am 5'1") so I feel confident this bed will be fine for my son for several years before he outgrows it. With the mattress on the bed, the rails only come up about 6 inches higher than the mattress. At first, we were not sure that was enough, but he has been fine. It seems very sturdy and secure. So first off I have to say it came 3 days earlier then expected! I was very surprised and also super excited! I bought this bed for my 3 year old and she absolutely loves it! It took 2 people to put it together and it took a while. It was not easy to assemble in my opinion lol. The drawers were the hardest part because the tool they gave you to use didn't even fit the little screw things or the tight angles. But luckily I had one that worked. And you need a drill to connect the stairs to the bed. Theres no pre-made holes. My BIGGEST problem with the bed is the color! The pictures it shows is a dark cherry wood also espresso like. But that is not the case at all. The pictures are very misleading. Its deff just a normal cherry wood. I was so so so disappointed because it doesn't match any of her furniture but I spent so much money im just gonna have to paint it or deal with it lol. And I guess its my own fault I should have done more research on the color. Overall she loves it and that's all that matters! And it came early and it seems very sturdy so far! (: ... show more

I looked for a junior loft bed for my three year old for about 3 months. After reading hundreds of reviews for several beds, I chose this one. It is perfect for his tiny bedroom! It spans almost the entire length of his room at 98 inches long and is a perfect height. My son has enough room underneath for a little fort to house his bookshelf, chair, and basket of stuffies. I love having the stairs so as to avoid slips off of the ladder. I also love the drawers in the stairs. They aren’t very big, but they are a decent size to store clothing that he hasn’t quite grown into yet. It is super sturdy too. Both of my boys (ages 3 and 4) love to sit on it and look at books or play with toys. It took my husband just shy of 4 hours to assemble it mostly by himself (I only assisted with 3 steps). The instructions weren’t the best, but he was able to figure everything out with minimal complaining. Overall, I am very happy with this bed! It even came 3 days earlier than expected (which was fantastic because it came on a weekend so we were able to set it up immediately). ... show more

This bed has exceeded my expectations. Completely solid wood- I was shocked expecting some pieces to be cheap particle board. We got this for my 2.5 year old. I was so nervous about a loft bed for his age, but the stairs option has put my nerves completely at ease! And the storage in the stairs is such a bonus. Small-ish but still completely useful! Small blankets, sheets and his pajamas. Assembly Note: other reviews mentioned the stairs were a pain to put together so my husband and I put the stairs partially together one night and the rest of the bed another day. I think this was a great way to assemble. It wasn’t overwhelming and we didn’t have to rush anything. Also, while it’s not “recommended” we did use power tools and it went very quickly and easily. And I feel more comfortable with the sturdiness using a drill than just my finger strength and an Allen wrench. Total between the 2 days it was maybe 2-2.5 hours. And that’s with a toddler “helping” We purchased a 6” mattress which sits about the bottom/middle of the middle rail (see photos) perfect for my son and for my comfort level that he won’t somehow roll out. ... show more
