I bought the Fender Blues Deluxe, hoping for an economical alternative to the excellent harmonica lines produced by Hohner, Seydel, Suzuki, Lee Oscars, and Yonberg. All of which I've got full sets of their best lines. But anyone who plays a lot goes through lots of reed plates which usually costs 2/3 the price of a completely new harmonica. Many of my harps are well over $100, and you do get what you pay for but it hurts your wallet when you crack a reed if you practice alot. It's like the difference between a Corvette and a Ferrari. The Ferrari costs 3 times as much, but it isn't 3 times faster. This Fender Blues Deluxe bridges the gap at a fraction of the cost. Get it. It is way above the Hohner Blues Band and will keep a beginner interested because it is a good instrument and for all you experienced out there, use these for practice time. For the price this harmonica is great. The Fender Blues Deluxe is a good choice for a beginner who doesn't want to spend too much, but wants something that works above the level of a toy. It's perfect for trying to decide how far down the harmonica path you want to go, and it has been fully serviceable for me so far. Solid construction and pretty good playability. Out of the box mine didn't bend as easily as a "better" harmonica. However, IMO, this is ok. You shouldn't be bending - in my opinion- until you can produce clean single notes. Having bends be a little more difficult to do will help to train your ear to what the UNBENT note(s) should sound like for each hole. Then when you are ready, you will build up more strength by having to work a little harder to make the bend. Then you will be ready to consider a better harp that bends with less effort. I'm not saying it doesn't bend. It does, but it may be harder than with others. Overall the tone is good. If you're a beginner you probably won't be able to discern differences in tone quality right away. To my ear, the tone is less... hmmm.. less "tasty." Yes, less "tasty" to my ear. If you don't know what that means, then you don't have to worry about it until it makes sense to you. I like the plastic case. Perhaps it's a little bulky and the corners are sharp. I tend to keep the empty case in my bag and store a couple of guitar picks and a slip of paper with scale charts. When I'm putting the harp away, I use the case. Otherwise, I keep it in my pocket without the case, ready to turn out a riff anywhere, anytime. I feel that it is both durable and inexpensive enough that I don't have to worry about it getting scratched or whatever. I'd recommend it if you're on a strict budget. Great sound and quality—perfect for beginners or seasoned players I picked up this Fender harmonica on a whim and I’m so glad I did. The quality is excellent right out of the box—it feels solid, well-constructed, and looks great with that classic Fender styling. It has a nice weight to it and feels comfortable to hold and play. The tone is clean and rich, especially for something at this price point. Notes bend easily and the airflow is smooth, making it a great choice for both beginners and more experienced harmonica players. I've used it for bluesy riffs and some folk-style melodies, and it performs beautifully in both styles. The harmonica came in a sturdy case, which is a nice bonus for storage or travel. The order came quickly and was in perfect condition. I like this one better than the childs Hohner I had previously bought. There was nothing really wrong with that one I.just outgrew it for learning how to play. This one has a better tone and sound. It also feels better on my mouth and hand.
