i have purchased three of these fender blues deluxe harmonicas a C a B flat and most recently a G. i have many entry level harmonicas i won't bother you with numbers and brand names. it's alot . if you are learning to play the harp and you don't want to be disappointed after spending fifty bucks, then this is your harp. the recessed reed plates make this harp easy on the lips. if you hadn't thought about sharp edges then you should take my advice and buy it. all of my fender harps are good quality. they are not fantastic harps but they are not breaking down on me....I can't say that about all of my harmonicas . good quality GREAT price and not difficult to play.....OH yeah i almost forgot ...for all you aspiring BLUES musicians they will BEND. I bought the Fender Blues Deluxe, hoping for an economical alternative to the excellent harmonica lines produced by Hohner, Seydel, Suzuki, Lee Oscars, and Yonberg. All of which I've got full sets of their best lines. But anyone who plays a lot goes through lots of reed plates which usually costs 2/3 the price of a completely new harmonica. Many of my harps are well over $100, and you do get what you pay for but it hurts your wallet when you crack a reed if you practice alot. It's like the difference between a Corvette and a Ferrari. The Ferrari costs 3 times as much, but it isn't 3 times faster. This Fender Blues Deluxe bridges the gap at a fraction of the cost. Get it. It is way above the Hohner Blues Band and will keep a beginner interested because it is a good instrument and for all you experienced out there, use these for practice time. I Bought It for the Name, Now My Cat Thinks I’m John Popper. Look, I saw “Fender” and “Blues Deluxe” and figured if it’s good enough for electric guitars that make grown men cry, it had to work for a tiny mouth harp. Boy, was I right. Popped it out of the slick vented case (which is fancier than my wallet), and the chrome covers felt so smooth I almost proposed. First blow on the C key and — BAM — bright, punchy tone that made my living room sound like a smoky Chicago bar at 2 a.m. No warm-up needed. The reeds are so responsive I bent notes I didn’t even know existed. My attempt at “Sweet Home Chicago” came out sounding suspiciously professional. My wife walked in, did a double-take, and asked if we suddenly had a new roommate named Muddy. Bends? Stupid easy. I was wailing on hole 4 like I’d been playing for decades instead of 20 clumsy minutes. The moisture-resistant comb keeps it airtight even after I drooled like an excited golden retriever. And the volume — this thing projects like it’s auditioning for a stadium. My neighbor yelled “Turn it down!” but I’m pretty sure he was smiling through the wall. Bonus: The cleaning cloth actually works. My harmonica still looks brand new after three weeks of enthusiastic (read: sloppy) practice. No rust, no warbling, just pure bluesy goodness. If you want a harmonica that feels like a real instrument instead of a plastic toy, plays like a dream, and makes you sound way better than you actually are… the Fender Blues Deluxe is it.
