  • Works like a charm
Size: 4,500 Sq Ft With Pump
Fantastic dehumidifier, bought to replace 1500 sf model which died and no longer available after 9 years of heavy use. New one has wifi and fantastic app which not only easily picked up the dehumidifier but 5 ceiling fans with wifi switches allowing on/ off and speed control.

  • Works Great! UPDATE: After nearly a year...
Size: 4,500 Sq Ft With Pump
I added this to my 1400sf crawl space to help reduce humidity in the living space above. It does a great job. The crawl space is about three feet tall, has concrete walls, and a concrete floor. The unit keeps the space at a constant 55% RH and pumps the condensate reliably, even with the eight foot rise I need. The only negative thing I can say is about the iOS app. It can be used to adjust and control the unit with ease, but there is no way to tell if the unit is running by looking at the app. UPDATE: After 11 months of CONTINUOUS use here in Coastal North Carolina, I experienced an intermittent problem with the condensate pump. I expect things to fail sometimes, especially if I use them 24/7. That's what warranties are for... What I didn't expect was the level of service I was about to receive. Not only did Ivation take care of my problem right away, but the whole experience was a joy. A real person answered the phone immediately. They were courteous, and clearly very interested in helping me. It was a total of eight minutes on the phone. Wow! I'm almost hoping for another reason to call them... I will absolutely choose Ivation again. ... show more

  • Failed in less than two years, frustrating wifi configuration.
Size: 4,500 Sq Ft With Pump
EDIT: Updating to 1 star, product failed in less than 2 years with season use. Leaking refrigerant from the evap coil. There is a lot to like about this dehumidifier. It really is powerful and I've enjoyed the built-in pump for continuous draining. Even with crazy humidity it is able to manage well. Obviously to dehumidify large space you need to consider where you place the unit and how you will handle the air flow. If you air circulation is on point this unit can remove a huge amount of water. The app and wifi integration is a bit frustrating on this unit and you have to have the app to take advantage of fine tuning the set point or scheduling the unit. As someone in the IT field it took me entirely too long to get this thing online. Here is a play by play: 1. I installed the app. Gave it full permissions. Created an account and logged in. 2. I tried the auto pairing feature to add the dehumidifier to the app. The phone was on 2.4GHz wifi and the dehumidifier was rapidly flashing the wifi light per the instructions. Nothing happened, the phone just timed out after a minute or two. Tried it a few times, but never got it to work. 3. I noticed there was a manual add device option so I tried that. I selected the dehumidifier as the device type from the menu, specified 2.4GHz wifi SSID and put in the password. It waited for two minutes and then said "check demerit points", whatever that means. 4. I tried following the 5-second button press reset procedure, but it seemed to do nothing other than disable the pairing mode (according to the docs). Re-enabling the pairing mode and trying steps 2 and 3 didn't do anything. 5. At this point I tried the "Switch Pairing Mode" option which appears at the bottom of the "Check demerit points" screen when using the manual pairing option. This asked me for a wifi network again, which I supplied and then confirmed the "indicator was blinking rapidly" on the dehumidifier. The next screen told me to open my wifi configuration and find the wifi access point for the Ivation dehumidifier. Unfortunately no such access point was showing up on my phone. 6. I thought maybe the instructions were poorly translated and maybe the pairing mode was when the wifi light was blinking slowly, not quickly. This would be opposite of all the instructions, paper and in the app. I held the power button again for 5 seconds to reset the device and now the wifi light was blinking slowly. I switched to the wifi configuration screen of my iPhone, waited for it to update and there it was, the Ivation access point. I connected and switched back to the My Ivation app and clicked "confirm hot spot connect, next" blue text at the very bottom. 7. Finally the device connected and I had access. This experience was overall frustrating, because pairing a device should not be this hard. I don't understand why all the documentation insisted the wifi light should flash quickly (2x a second) to indicate pairing mode. Regardless of flashing speed the auto configuration does not work with my phone. To get to the proper manual configuration via the integrated access point inside the dehumidifier takes too many steps, the manual configuration first has to fail before you can use that option. Furthermore the app and device should also be able to support wifi access points running both 2.4 and 5GHz on the same SSID. This is going to be very annoying for most people with modern networks who don't have a secondary 2.4GHz SSID. ... show more

  • Works as advertised, Smart Life / Tuya compatible
Size: 4,500 Sq Ft With Pump
I was surprised (and happy) to find that the smart capability is based on an energy efficient ESP8266 WiFi unit with Tuya firmware. This means that the dehumidifier is Smart Life compatible. So if Ivation decides to go out of business, you can keep using the smart home functionality either with the Smart Life app or you flash a new custom firmware on the ESP8266 and make the device your own. (For people who are afraid of China: Tuya is a Chinese smart home software company. Get over it. Their firmware is in devices from over 10,000 manufacturers. No one will gain anything from hacking your dehumidifier. And this way maybe the NSA won't have access to your home's humidity levels.) The dehumidifier arrived undamaged. Setup was super simple. WiFi pairing was kind of weird (the Ivation app forced me to add the dehumidifier as a pet feeder ^^) but it all worked out fine. The app let's you setup, display and control all aspects of the device, however: the Google Assistant integration can only switch it on or off - which in all fairness should be enough, although a remote Google Assistant readout of the humidity and reservoir levels would be nice. Both (Google Assistant and Ivation app) work remotely. You can see the device status, set humidity levels and fan speed etc. while you are abroad. The pump works without any issues, circumvents the reservoir completely - which is really nice since it avoids standing water in the machine - and expels water reliably out the window over the porch into the garden. I just have to 3D print a new window seal - else I'm dehumidifying the entire city. :D Over all I am happy with the overall unit. It does it's job and I don't have to leave my bed to change settings or empty the reservoir if I don't want to. Thus I never have to see the dehumidifier, which is a good thing since it could look a lot nicer. ;) Noise level? It's loud. But they all are. Value: Really good so far. Let's see for how long it survives Florida weather. tl;dr: Recommended if you care about an integrated pump. Highly recommended if you care about smart capabilities. (And absolutely perfect if you are a toying with the idea to flash open source firmware to the device and write your own app for it. :D) ... show more

  • poor instructions
Size: 4,500 Sq Ft With Pump
The instruction booklet is poorly written. I've gotten longer instructions with a can opener. There is very little information, if any, on the functions. I had to call support because the instructions kept telling me to press the reset button and apparently there isn't any on this model. The unit did not turn off when it reached the desired humidity. I called but support was closed. Only a few items in the half page troubleshooting but nothing helpful unless you have a leak. While I was searching for answers on the internet, the unit shut off at 38% humidity when it was set for 43%. It did not come back on until it reached 48% humidity. I'm going to work on that 5% scale . The hose for the pump drain feature in very long and can reach almost anywhere. The power cord is short so that comes in handy if your power supply is away from your drain. The hose for the continuous drain is very short so you may want to buy a longer one to use that feature although I'm not sure why I would need that feature. It's not quiet but it's acceptable, the fan is about as loud as a house fan. It's on wheels so it super easy to move around. I like the fact that I can monitor it from my phone too. Overall, I would say this is a good product and would recommend it, I would just keep the support number close and forget the instructions. ... show more

  • Updated 9/30/2025 after product failure : My 4th purchase-best dehumidifier on the market
Size: 4,500 Sq Ft With Pump
Sept 30, 2025. Updated 5 Star +++++ The Situation: My July 16, 2024 dehumidifier developed the dreaded 10-minute shutdown issue just weeks after the 12-month warranty expired (August 2025). Initially frustrated, especially since my three 2022 units had performed flawlessly for years. The Resolution: After expressing my concerns about the timing and pattern of failures, Ivation stepped up and provided a replacement unit completely free of charge - even though I was technically out of warranty. This is the kind of customer service that builds lifetime loyalty. Why This Matters: Bottom Line: Yes, some 2024 units had issues, but Ivation's willingness to make things right - even out of warranty - shows this is a company you can trust. The replacement unit works perfectly, and their customer service turned a potential disaster into a testament to their integrity. Highly recommended. Few companies would replace an out-of-warranty unit, but Ivation did the right thing. Original Review: 5 starI own two homes, One with a continuous basement water problem from an underground stream and the other at the beach with high humidity. I have needed to use dehumidifiers in each for over 20 years. This is the best one I have ever used. I've installed two in the basement of each house and I am extremely pleased with their performance. I purchased the model with the pump and the long tubing hose drains directly into my sump pump. The wireless feature is amazing. I can track humidity remotely, change settings and monitor both houses on my iPhone when I travel. I set the humidity at 35-40% and the units work perfectly. These have solved a major problem for me! ... show more

  • 2.4ghz Required, 5.0 Won't Do It
Size: 4,500 Sq Ft With Pump
This is1 of our 3 dehumidifiers. Its quieter, really cranks out the water, pump works fine, rolls easy and price is good. But, you must have 2.4ghz WiFi. My 5ghz mesh won't work. Called support and it was "It won't work" period. No help there. My isp is checking on it and their senior tech is supposed to call. It works great, but I needed the WiFi for remote control. Nowhere in the description does it mention only 2.4. I guess I'll be returning it. UPDATE: ISP came through! The app is great, gives info you need and controls what you need. My best dehumidifier for the beach condo. Would buy again, highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Bought September 18, 2021, not working May 2023.
Size: 4,500 Sq Ft With Pump
I purchased the Ivation dehumidifier in September 2021 and used it exclusively in my basement during the humid summer months in New York. During the first season, the dehumidifier worked well and effectively lowered the humidity levels in my basement. However, when I tried to use it again in May 2023, it was not functioning properly. The motor and compressor were running, but the coils were room temperature, indicating that there may have been a freon leak. While I was disappointed that the dehumidifier stopped working after just one season of use, I appreciated the fact that it was relatively easy to use and had a straightforward setup process. The control panel was user-friendly and allowed me to adjust the humidity level and fan speed according to my preferences. Additionally, the unit was relatively compact and easy to move around as needed. However, given the fact that the dehumidifier stopped working so quickly, I'm not sure that I would recommend this product to others. While it may have worked well initially, the fact that it failed after such a short period of use suggests that the unit may not be as durable as I had hoped. In the future, I will likely look for a dehumidifier with better warranty coverage or more durable components to ensure that I get more use out of my investment. Overall, while the Ivation dehumidifier may work well for some people, I would caution potential buyers to consider the durability of the unit before making a purchase. While the initial cost may be reasonable, if the dehumidifier fails after just one season, it may not be the most cost-effective option in the long run. ... show more
