  • Outcomes matter
I love this little voice recording booth. I use it for audiobook recordings. I live on a fairly busy street, in an old house with bouncy floors. My noise floor consistently stays low, requiring very little correction when mastering recordings. Yeah, my mic picks up loud trucks, and I can’t record if my spouse or a neighbor is mowing, but overall I am quite pleased. I would purchase again. I had no problems with product quality as some have reported. My both was new and complete. On a budget, you might be able to make your own version, and this little head booth is a bit pricey. For me, it was well worth it. ... show more

  • Bad first impression
I would expect better from something that’s $1000. I can’t even screw the mic stand into it because the threads are all messed up, and I tried using pliers. It does sound nice, but now I’m probably going to have to get a new mic stand piece to use my shock mount with it. It sits too tall with it on, and the stand won’t screw down any farther because the threads aren’t right. Overall I’m happy, but it’s a very big disappointment to have something so simple messed up when you spend this amount of money on it. ... show more

  • Seems a universal solution, but is actually rather niche
The IsoVox2 is an elegant, portable, remarkably sturdy and effective solution for a person who does audio recording more than a hobby, but is not yet at a professional level enough to have more robust or specialized equipment. IsoVox2 fills the gap for a beginner professional... who can afford it, or who is seriously investing in a tool at the start of a longer career. It's too expensive. It's well-designed and it works. It comes with an LED portable mini light rod. But the stand and carrying bag you have to buy separately. If you got all of that together, ~$1000 would feel like a more reasonable expense. But if you have a $300~$500 budget, you could probably build something as good or maybe better, depending on your sound engineering experience and existing resources. The IsoVox2, for me, is kind of like a Macbook Pro. I'm a PC user and gamer. I like learning about computer components and what works with what and why. I don't mind doing the research for a balanced deal and a custom rig. My friend who is a diehard Apple fan loves her Macbook Pro even though she can barely afford it because in addition to being an elegantly designed machine, she doesn't have to be a computer nerd to get the most out of it. I'm like my friend when it comes to sound engineering. I'm not a aurally gifted person, nor do the physics of sound interest me very much. I'm willing to pay the premium for a one-and-done product that won't have me scouring acoustic foams and PVC construction projects with audio blankets and stuff. And I'm a renter with limited space, so I need a solution I can take with me when I move. IsoVox2 saves me hassle. The IsoVox2 does work. It's heavier than I thought. Or rather, 35 lbs. feels more cumbersome to lift than I was prepared for. There is some size-distortion too, in my perception of it, cuz the foam is so thick, the Inside feels so small compared to how big the outside feels. The IsoVox2 isolates your voice, but it does not totally sound-proof the inside form the outside noise, nor stop sounds you make inside the IsoVox2 form being heard by those outside. It DOES muffle certain frequencies better than others. If you're belting or screaming or projecting, people in your home or neighbors who share a wall will still hear you. But if you're talking, people not in the room will not. Likewise, the IsoVox2 muffles (or at least kind of equalizes) soft noise, like a computer fan, but will still pick up an airplane, lawnmower, or creaky flooring. Think of it more like the best you can upgrade a conventional Isolation shield into rather than a proper booth replacement. I'm finding it great for Voiceover. So, in conclusion, This is a 5-star product for what it is... practically speaking. But its range of usefulness is may not be as broad as it seems for the price. However, if you hit that sweet spot where you think a $1000 investment for a specific tool in regards to how particular your use-case is, it DOES provide a quality solution that with proper handling and care, should last you many, many years. I was very on the fence about the IsoVox2 because I could not afford it up front in full. But a few friends who have used it all endoresed it for our use-case (voiceover work), and their experience aligns with my own. Side-note: it has that new-car smell. I'm personally not a fan but some people just LOVE that, so there you have it. ... show more

  • Great Product - Highly effective.
I wanted to take some time before giving it a review. I have used this for many sessions and all the remote studio technicians give great feedback. I purchased a booth to to go with it as I live in an apartment adjacent to freeways and heavy traffic. Highly recommend.

  • You have got to be freaking kidding.
I thought I was being uptight at first but low and behold they shipped me a used and defective unit. No zipper on one sides so the thing doesn’t even zip and is unable to work. Other side has two on the same side. On top of this it is MISSING MORE PIECES. THE VELCRO DOESN’T EVEN FIT PROPERLY. IS THIS EVEN REAL? Oh and forget about product support it doesn’t exist with this hunk of crap. Would also like to add on that this product has one of the worst reputations out there. Look it up. ... show more

  • Not worth the end result (unusable recordings)
This was a cool idea, but the end result for the recordings is worse than if you had done it in a reflective room. The best and possibly only good feature of the product is its ability to greatly reduce outside noise, and reduce the amount of noise your performance puts off to the outside world (great for apartments). The problem is the kind and thickness of the padding rips the life from your vocals and leaves you with heavy mud and bass buildup, resulting in recordings that are not of the professional grade and basically unusable in most situations. The booth is also not compatible with most large condenser mics (like my Manley Ref C) without some modifications. The price is also quite bewildering and not in alignment with the end result and materials used. ... show more

  • Not perfect, but as good as this kind of solution can get.
Dampens the sound better than I thought it would. It looks nice and works as well, or better than you might think. You can get pretty loud, and although everyone in your house still may be able to hear you a bit, it’s significantly quieter. For recording vocals, it does seem to enhance the low end mud, somewhere around 200-500hz, but it’s not too bad. Nothing some proper EQ can’t fix. Tough to fit a shure sm7b in there. But most mics seem to fit pretty well. ... show more
