The industrial design of this thing is really, really poor
It works OK, but man, the industrial design is terrible. Where do I begin? 1. The LID. Who came up with this dumb design? The lid goes over the base like a hat. It's not hinged; you have to take it off and set it somewhere. But that's only half the problem. The real bug is that water condenses on the under-side, and all that condensate spills off when you lift the lid. You have to do this awkward lift/twist motion to try to get most of the water to land back in the tank. If you're lucky, 80% of it will. That still leaves a wet mess. They could have easily hinged the lid and designed the base to channel the condensate back into the tank. Why didn't they? 2. The temperature sensor. There are four LEDs that purport to report the tank temperature: green, yellow, red, and ...red. Yeah, two red LEDs: one wide, and another narrow one right next to it. (Huh?!?) But that's not the best part. The best part is how the instructions describe the LEDs. Green means the temperature is 0 to 30% of the set temperature. Think about that one for a moment. What is 0% of a set temperature? Absolute zero? Zero Fahrenheit? Centigrade? For that matter, what's 30%? Or any percent? It's meaningless. It really is meaningless, because no matter what the tank temperature is, or what the temperature setting is, the green and yellow LEDs are ALWAYS ON. They mean nothing. You have two red LEDs that change and they seem pretty random, really. When you turn on the heater, an indicator indicates it is on. You just have to keep watching the heater indicator and wait until it goes out. Or get a real thermometer and stick it in the tank. 3. The temperature control. It can't maintain a temperature. When you set the temperature and turn on the heater, it will run the heater until it thinks it has reached the set temperature, then the heater shuts off and the tank starts cooling down. Come back an hour later, and the tank is cold again. Start over. This is not a set-and-forget appliance. It's a set-and babysit appliance. 4. The drain. There's a drain at the bottom with a valve (that's the round knob in the lower-right corner), which is nice. What would be even nicer would be a valve that drains all the water out without getting vapor lock. I don't know what the drain path is inside the unit, but there must be a loop upward in there, because if the drain sucks a little bit of air, the water will stop flowing out. I've had it sit there with the valve open and half a tank of water and zero flow. You have to add enough water to push the air bubble out, or sometimes you can get it flowing again by pumping at the opening with your thumb, using your thumb as a miniature toilet plunger. Here's the best technique I found: forget using the hose that comes with it, that makes it worse. Just perch the thing over your sink and open the valve. Once it gets down to about 1/4 full, tilt the tank to maximize the water level over the drain. If you're lucky, it will almost empty before vapor-locking, and you can sop up the rest with a sponge. I could go on about the fact that it's under-powered for the tank size, how the "stainless steel" started corroding after just a couple of uses (not all stainless steels are made alike, this stuff is obviously bargain-basement), how difficult it is to read the min/max water level markers in the tank, and how the basket covers those up (would it have been that hard to design the basket with min/max markings?). It's just a cheap, poorly designed unit. But it does an OK job of cleaning, so I gave it two stars instead of one.

Disappointed
Update: called customer service and was told I would have to pay to send it back for repair and that warranty does not cover replacing it. When I questioned him he laughed at me! Bought this on November 19th, everything was working good until 2 days ago when the heater stopped working. Still pulses but will not get hot. Ler heater run for over 2 hours twice and still ice cold water. Figures for the money it would last more than 2 months.

Heater Doesn't Work
The ultrasonic mechanism seems to work fine. However, I only recently tried to use the heater and discovered that it doesn't work. I suspect that it never did work but I have waited too long to request a return. **Update** I like the appearance of this unit and the fact that it has a drain so, in spite of my poor experience with the previous unit, I ordered another one. The heater has quit working after one month. This time, though, I am within the timeframe to request a free replacement. Hoping for better luck with the next one . . . . We'll see. **Update #2** The heater on my replacement unit has gone out after less than 3 weeks use!

Had to Return Item
My ultrasonic came without a power cord. Additionally, one of the basket handles was broken off. The unit had some evidence of having been used and returned. I cannot rate the product on its function. I have returned and ordered another of the same make/model. I will update the review if the new unit arrives complete and in better condition than the one I returned. ***UPDATE*** The second ultrasonic unit came today in brand new condition. The unit arrived with both a power supply cord and a drain hose. As much as I can tell, the unit is working as described. I do wish there was a screen on the drain hole in the ultrasonic reservoir to prevent small parts from accidentally passing into the drain.

Mine was junk
Broke it in 30 days....at dental office....not sealed properly and the motor/electrical area filled with cleaning fluid.WTH????? Pretty sure the drain switch was faulty and it leaked internally. Company says I have to ship to Chicago on my dime for repairs. My other cleaner lasted 5 years.

Good Item
I waited to use it a couple of times before reviewing. It works well. Easy to clean. Glad I bought it. Large enough to put in numerous items of firearm interest. Nice handles. Exactly as pictured. Washes off easily.

Saved my day
The original basket in my sonic cleaner became brittle and broke. This saved me from buying a new machine. Fits perfect, price was right and hopefully it will last longer than the original.
