  • Easy Replacement of old RainDial RD 600
My RD600 6 valve system became unreliable this summer, after about 15 years of problem free function. . It would stop working for no apparent reason, then seemed ok for a few days again. Finally the LED screen would blink and not run the programmed cycle. I ordered a complete replacement set and it was quite easy to install. Programming and wiring was the same as the old one, except there are more pins on the new one and the programmer "brains" could not be swapped. As another reviewer noted, it is good to buy the complete set with the new housing instead of just the "brain" replacement unit separately. The cost is actually a little higher for just replacement part, compared to the complete unit. It was up and running very quickly. ... show more

  • Easy to program and understand
I have had this controller in various forms over the last 20 years. First one had a power issue (after 7 years) that failed to deliver the 24 volts to the solenoids and could have been repaired (raindialdoctor) however I opted for a new 9 station. It worked flawlessly 11 years until house sold. I also bought the 6 station for 2 valves at a vacation home. No problems either. Wiring in a rain sensor would be beneficial and these new ones have that option. If you don't need an internet smart phone wifi controller to watch your sprinklers while driving the 101, then this is the ticket. ... show more

  • You better know
My sprinkler system at home didn't work since last year, cause it was winter already and no need too much water. So I just manual spreading the water. But I need to get this fixed; I'm not gonna call the Landscaping company to charge a lot of money which you can fix it yourself. So I did a lot research found out it just needs to replace the timer. So I started google for the best price, and this one came up the best value. I just receive it today, it takes me 2 mins to install the new one and it works right away. By the way I just need the timer part of this product, and the box and circuit board was not needed at all. I thought maybe I should just return this and get that part only maybe will save some money, but you know what I found out everywhere else sells that alone even more expensive than this whole package. So I think this seller was not kind of ripping off price at least not too much. So if you guys need this, should get this one. ... show more

  • Great product
I had an old rain dial, much smaller foot print. It worked for a long time then it didn't. When I bought this one I was worried because it was substantially bigger. No problem though because the screw holed to fix it to the house were in the exact location. All I had to do was use the existing screws, attach the wires and we were off. I'm not at all handy. This whole process took 20 minutes. I only attempted it because we couldn't get anyone to come out and do it, lol.. ... show more

  • Good upgrade from previous Irritrol controller
This box replaced an older model Irritrol controller that had given out after about 14 years of use. This is a good upgrade and pairs well with the Irritrol RS1000 wireless rain sensor. Swapping out boxes was straight forward. Had one issue on install - the mounting hole on the back has a protective plastic shield to prevent interference with internal electronics. Its a good shield but unfortunately on this particular box was so thick that a mounting screw wouldn't fit at all in slot provided. Had to drill out part of the shield to allow screw head to fit in the mounting hole. Other than that, installation was a breeze and control box works great. ... show more

  • I only needed the programmer but I had to have everything
I am locked in to Irritrol because my indoor and outdoor controllers were installed years ago as Irritrol. When the programmer fails, as they have done over the years, I do not need to rewire anything. I just unplug the defective unit and set and plug in the new one. Simple enough but Irritrol does not help. A reorder has to have the entire unit not just the programmer. So I have to throw a lot of brand new parts away. ... show more

  • Malfunctions Constantly
I purchased the RD600 from this seller to replace the same brand, slightly older model that had worked for 15+ years. Wiring, placement, valve loads, everything was exactly the same as the previous. It's installed in a temp controlled garage out of the elements. After less than two months in place, this new one is a mess. The current day and time are programmed correctly, the various sprinkler and drip system days/times are set just as the previous one, and yet this "new" one turns on during days/times it's not even programmed for! For example it is now Monday, May 2 and despite having all three Mondays turned OFF for all three possible (A, B, C) programs, it cycled on and is running valve no. 1 today. It seemed to be quirky since day one but we chalked it up to our programming mistakes. I tried zeroing out all programs and started over, yet the malfunctions continue. It turns on our irrigation systems during the wrong days/times and fails to turn on certain valves at all. Thankfully we've kept an eye on things and turned zones on manually when it failed. Of course, we're now past the "return deadline" of April 8 and we're incensed to say the least. This is clearly an electronics malfunction but we're screwed. It's acting almost as if it was a defective return that was perhaps "refurbished"? It would be great if the seller would step up but not holding out hope. Live and learn. ... show more

  • GREAT Controller!
An exact size replacement for my old James Hardie 6-station controller, which owed me noting after 24 years of service (what failed: slide switch contacts and key bounce on push buttons). Exact same-size mounting box meant I could reuse all mounting holes and wall anchors. The big Wow is how much more sophisticated this current generation of controller is than my old one. Long list of special features integrated into new processor. It's like the irrigation fairy granted your every wish. Imagine a manufacturer who actually listens to their customers' improvement suggestions, and integrates these into their product. Fantastic ... show more
