I wanted to keep a key outside in case I have to call for medical help and was unable to get to the door to let them in. I didn't want my door smashed in, but I was apprehensive about having a key outside. I eventually ordered this lock box to check it out and see how I felt about it. I took it to a locksmith friend and he gave it a thumbs-up. The cable feels at least as sturdy as my gun lock and I trust that. The cable also gives me more options for mounting it. I use these on all my homes that are under construction. It allows all my sub contractors to have access to the house as long as they know the code. It is very simple to install. The only downfall for why I didn’t give it 5 stars is because with as much as people are in and out of my homes doing work and slamming the door, the box continuously bangs on the door and i have had a few break. I was immediately impressed with the quality workmanship of this lockbox. I am a 78 year young woman living alone who has had several occasions to call emergency services for assistance. Firemen had to kick down my basement door which prompted me to find a way to have a key readily and safely available. This gives me a wonderful sense of security. I feel safe. It was so easy to attach the shackle, reset the code and hang on my front door. The shackle is plastic coated so it won’t scratch my bronze door handle.
