It's a plastic holder on small wheels. It has a good lit that snaps shut. It works great to hold my 50 pounds of dog food in the closet. I have not had any ant or mice problems. It is plastic, so not indestructible. If mice did show up, eventually, they would eat the plastic. That is just keeping an eye on your stuff and ensuring you do not have an infestation. I do not. I have had it for months now and am happy with it. It does roll. Wheels can come off; if they do, just put them back on. I roll it in and out of the closet daily to get food for the dog. It works. Got this to replace an older one I had. This one holds a lot more. I love that the cover lock flips down to open instead of up. It always closes air tight. The wheels roll so much smoother even though it is heavier due to holding more. I recommend if buying large bags of food.
