Really happy with this purchase. Originally purchased the ION R1 and never could get it to fire up so returned it and opted for this latest ION G3. Instructions were fine and easy to attach the few things. I'm really happy with this G3. Drilling in 18in ice with unbelievable speed. Drilled about a dozen holes on this first outing. After the first hole I relegated most of the rest drilling to my novice Grandson. Was surprised at not needing to put any downward pressure on the auger to drill like I had with my old Gas powered auger. It cut thru the ice like it was butter. The mechanics of switching from forward to reverse via a simple switch worked well and was a novelty since my old gas auger doesn't do reverse. Also liked the battery lock mechanism vs the rubber one on the returned R1. Battery held up fine and still showed fully charged when we packed up to go home. We brought the auger inside the hut while fishing since weren't sure about the effects of cold on it. Will experiment overtime. I would definitely recommend this ION G3 Auger and look forward to many years of use. HardWaterRuss

To start off I normally went with gas augers but after using this I’m sold on electric. The battery lasted for many trips. The weight of it made it perfect if you needed to carry it for awhile. It work as it was intended for. I normally brought the battery in the ice shack so it didn’t get cold assuming it wouldn’t last in the elements. Just me being cautious though.

Works great but don’t leave battery attached unless you’re using it. Went to go use it after drilling holes and sitting for about an hour and nothing. Put battery in jacket for about ten minutes and it worked fine. It was only about 20 degrees but love it except for that
