It's a boxed Intel CPU, it makes computers go, it doesn't fix your marital problems or cure cancer. Just a note that this is 'E5-2630 v3' processor which is a completely different socket from the regular 'E5-2630' CPU. Make sure your motherboard socket is FCLGA2011-3 and not just FCLGA2011. The two are not identical and chips for one will not fit in the other. ... show more

If I had the money I would buy the 3.0 Ghz octocore cousin of this model, but this version works great! Requires a heat sink and a x99 motherboard. Works on my MSI model without issue. Installation was a little hard to figure out, but read tutorials or the manual for help. Although not intended for gaming, the processor does its job under heavy load. Depending on the game, multiple cores are utilized and help provide a smooth experience. Your mileage may vary depending on the game. My primary usage is as a video editing rig. I paired mine with a Zotac GTX 980 Ti Amp Extreme 6gb GDDR5 video card, and this thing edits mutliple gigabyte sized video clips like butter. Fast rending times. No need to edit a proxy clip. I'm able to utilize all cores. Color grading is a breeze. 10/10 would splurge again ... show more
