  • Bargain Used CPU for $75.
My CPU ran well at first but the 2nd and 3rd days it only recognized 2 of 16 GB of memory. The 4,5,6 days it ran well. The 7th day it blue screened taking out my boot partition. Fortunately a 'repair disk' recovered the boot partition. I ordered a 2nd cpu for my 2 cpu server board and it has been working perfectly for some 6 days now. I am still waiting for a replacement of the defective cpu to arrive which should be soon. This is still a cheap way to get 16 working processor units or 32 threads in a 2 cpu board. Don't order one of these until you have found a proper board for it as they are getting very scarce and expensive. Only some software can use this many processors efficiently. I got mine from NeweggBusiness.com for $279. The board is an ASRock EP2C602 SSI EEB Server Motherboard Dual LGA 2011 DDR3 1600/1333/1066. The E5-2670 is compatible with X79 single or LGA-2011 dual cpu boards. The footprint of the MB requires a server type case with SSI EEB footprint. You'll need at least Windows 7 Pro to work with dual processors which I am using. Update: It's been a month now and it's been running fine. I've found that the Cooler Master 212 Evo hsfan ($30) does a fine job and they can be installed vertical or horizontal, your choice. ... show more

  • great!
great eight core, sixteen thread cpu. Like a slower ryzen! lol the mobo's that use this type of cpu are expensive but, you can find a pre-build workstation and swap this out with it. Boom, 8/16 box for, depends on the mobo you find, cheaper than ryzen. You can also dual CPU this and mine worked great. 16/32 beast with no issues with used CPU's. ... show more

  • Tremendous Computing Power
This is an amazing processor, especially for heavily threaded applications including application servers, virtual machines, 3D modeling and video post-production work. This particular Xeon model delivers an excellent balance between clock rate, core count, cache and power consumption. It delivers all eight cores and 20MB of L3 cache running at a solid 2.6 clock rate that boosts up to 3.3. Most importantly, this model is very power efficient with a 115W maximum consumption rate, keeping operating costs down when running two CPUs in a 7 x 24 server platform. The two slightly faster models (2680 and 2690) eat a lot more wattage at higher usage levels. ... show more

  • Super Duper Buy
I bought two of these processors. One of the processors was a renew processor. I stole that processor from Amazon for $60.00USD.

Built a dual Xeon box for architectural ray tracing. Its a little faster than the 5960 box used for the same thing but the xeons were less expensive to build. About 20% faster for Adobe and Davinci Resolve with nr and cc nodes. Would I build it again? Yes
