  • Workhorse
Intel I9-10940 is a real workhorse CPU. With 14 cores, it can handle as much multi-tasking as you can throw at it. Being a full-stack software engineer, I throw a lot at it. Gaming seems to be excellent also. Installation was easy on an AORUS X299 Master MB. I did not overclock but I still use for gaming and it works great. Base speed is 3.31 GHz. I looked at Ryzen but since I have a 80%/20% time split between production and gaming, I stuck with the Intel chip. I have a friend who has a similar PC but went with Ryzen and he is happy as well so I think it comes down to personal preference. There seems to be a bit of a price premium on the Intel processors though. Update April 2023 - I have been using this processor for 7-8 months now and I would whole-heartedly recommend it. For programming it has been excellent. I consistently use a virtual machine via Docker and this CPU handles it with aplomb. Also, it has been great for gaming. I just finished playing The Last of Us and it ran like a dream on my rig. I considered an 13th gen processor when purchasing this, but I liked the cores and clock speed of this model. So far, I have no regrets. I like the fact that the 10th gen processors and the X299 slot have the majority of kinks worked out by now. ... show more

  • Awesome CPU with Awesome Customer Service!
Great CPU and awesome seller. Fast responses and they even took the time to help me diagnose an issue on new system build that was not CPU related.

  • 4.9GHz across all 14 cores!
Awesome processor. Running 4.8ghz all core right now without much effort. May try to push for more soon. EDIT 4/7/2021 - been running 4.9GHz all core since soon after this review, Mesh at 3.2GHz. 1.32v core.

  • It's all about overclocking!
Running 3 cores @ 5.0 GHz, 8 cores @ 4.9 GHz and 3 cores @ 4.8 GHz (1.285 Volts). AVX -3, AVX512 -5. Cinebench R15 around 3650 multi and 210 single. Cinebench R20 around 8715 multi and 500 single. Sheer processing power lags behind AMD's 3950X, but I need the 48 PCIE lanes that come with the x299 platform. I run 2x1080 Ti in SLI, 4 NVMe SSDs, 8 3TB HDDs in Raid 10 and a WiGig wireless card for the HTC Vive Pro. Bought from best buy for $799. Overclocking profile took time to optimize by core, but worth it in the end. ... show more

All leds light up on everything when I power up and when I hit the power button the fans spin and system runs for about a sec then shuts down. Tried a different power supply same thing. I'm lost and need help. Anything would be appreciated ... show more
