I bought this CPU to put into a budget build for my girlfriend. This CPU is fantastic; she gets a solid 144fps with absolutely no frame drops under 100fps in Fortnite, Overwatch, and many others, and with the CPU being underpowered by a 1650 super I can only imagine how well it would run with something like a 3060. Also, I had read about and was expecting to have thermal issues with the stock cooler until I received the water cooler I ordered, but the cooler has had no problems keeping the CPU cool under load. My only real issue is the temperature, this fella packs a lot of heat, and the stock cooler might not be enough for some people, so I already ordered an air cooler to see if I can get those temps under control. ... show more

This is a good mid tier CPU that can run AAA games in 1080p when paired with a 3070 / 3080 / 4060 GPU. Go with this option if the more expensive i5 with "E" cores isn't something you need. The E cores add heat and raise the TDP which are negatives for someone like me who doesn't need them. the 12400 i5 is the sweet spot of the intel 1700 socket lineup right now in 2023 / 2024. ... show more

It's INTEL so no surprised there. I didn't want to break the bank in a much needed upgrade to my gaming rig. I replaced the CPU/Board/Memory at a very reasonable (cheap) price. It works perfectly and is much faster than the previous i7 GEN I replaced.

Never thought I would be praising Intel but for the money right now (jan 2024) this is the best you can get for the money. Also I bought the i3 12100 which if your really on a budget it will be about the same at 1440p gaming and above.
