I bought this so my wife could cut brush on our40 acre property on Hawaii. I didn't want to have to teach her to safely us my big Stihl gas saws. She never took to it so it just sat for about a year and a half. I needed to cut up some 4x10 beams for cribbing and it occured to me that it would be a lot more handy than either a worm drive or a gas chainsaw. It worked great. Ever since it has been my go-to for limbing and light bucking jobs. I have seen several reviews citing short battery life. I have found quite the opposite. I have 2 9ah batteries and seldom have even had to switch batteries. I will admit I am not out cutting a years worth of firewood with this thing. We just went through a hurricane here and had a few trees come down including one across the driveway. My wife was trying to get out and texted me a picture of the tree across the road. I got my truck and threw in a log chain and choker and the little saw. When I got there I realized it was just tops on the road. Zip, zip, zip, and she was on her way in about 3 minutes. Love that little thing. I have 3 Stihls ranging from a 25 inch ms260 to an 038 magnum2 with a new powerhead running 25 inch skip chisel chains to a ms 662 with a 36 inch bar for milling, but I seem to always grab the little powerhouse first. I will say, it did take forever to get. Like as in months. Hopefully Amazon has a different vendor now cause that sucked!

This thing slices through huge logs like warm butter. Honestly, I didn't expect this level of quality. I have two other Dewalt chainsaws, and I was hesitant to buy this one... mostly because of how the other two (smaller and older models) leak chain oil. This one is rock solid, cuts smooth as silk and no ... let me repeat that ... "NO" chain oil leaks that I have with the other two. I absolutely love the case which has a storage slot for the battery and other gadgets you might want to stow along with it. Oh, yeah. I'm using a 9Ah battery with it and exhausting myself before dropping a single bar on the battery charge. I really thought I was going to need a gas saw, but I'm absolutely convinced now. For the low noise and ease of this electric chainsaw, I have no reason to ever buy a gas-powered saw again. Keep it up, Dewalt. This is exactly what we need.

Short and sweet review. It worked better than I thought it would. I abused the heck out of it and it kept trucking. Battery life with a 9 amp hr was dismal, my 15 amp hr was a work horse. The 9 amp hrs (i have 2) either kept getting over heated and only ran for maybe 10 chops on a 12 inch log. The 15 amp hr worked for hrs and cut logs way bigger than the recommended thickness. If i didn't have the 15 amp hr, I would have been disappointed. Cliff Notes. If yer working in the back yard with only a few tress to trim, prune, or chop then it's great. With the 6 dead trees I had to remove it took a few weekend with letting the batteries cool down and re-charge. For a weekend warrior project chainsaw it's totally worth it. For lots of tress and timeliness, this is not the right product for you.

I was so excited for this expensive saw, but only got 2 days off cutting out of it. It was cutting amazing and fast and the battery life wasn't good. I used a 12ah dewalt flex battery and would only last line 20-30min. It is a bit heavier then normal electric chainsaws. The chain tensioner broke and it started smoking. Very disappointed and it's part my return window because I ordered it over the winter and didn't use it until now.

I read plenty of reviews on the Dewalt line of chainsaw, but I settled on this one for the price and motor size. As far as the chainsaw itself powerful, cuts great, feels like a gas powered saw Thoughts from unboxing to use. 1. case is great, but handle pulled out when I picked it up off center Could have been made without plastic 2. Disappointed no chain saw oil with tool only. Had to go to store before use. 3. Chain tensioner could be labeled for the direct to tighten/loosen. After a few cuts, had to adjust the chain as it was loose. 4. Cut through 16" hickey logs like butter. 5. Felt like 15 mins of fun on a 60v 12.0. Had to continue with my 60 9.0. 6. Most users complain about bar oil leaks, it would be nice if the box allowed it cap to sit upwards instead of sideways in the box. Overall, great choice but you will need more than one battery for continuous operations.

Love the saw, but the 20V batteries are a joke. They may be good for smaller machines, but not a chainsaw. I couldn't even get halfway through a 12" log before I had to change out the battery. Then have to wait for the battery to cool before it could be put on the charger. I have ordered a 60V 12Ah battery, so let's see if that works when it arrives.

Battery life kinda sucks. Bought the 15mah battery because the 9mah wouldn't even last through a log. The 15 does better but.... Listen, saw cuts great when it cuts. Just that for the saw and $400 battery, it should be much better. If I had to do it over, probably would have gotten the 16 inch, as battery life on it is reportedly better and will still get 90% of the stuff I cut. I also have the 12 inch and love it; 5mah lasts forever.

Purchased this saw last year really like it. I’ve used it to clean fallen trees from our property. I’ve had the full 20” bar in trees already and the saw doesn’t lack for power though the batteries last the best on logs around 10 to 12 inches. Not a professional loggers saw but great for the occasional tree clean up and anyone who doesn’t use a saw enough to keep the carburetor from gumming up
