  • Battery power finally surpasses gas.
I'm a DeWalt guy through and through and had been eyeing this chainsaw for a while. Even though I believe DeWalt puts out quality products I was skeptical at the CC comparison claims but having used this saw many times I can tell you battery power has finally surpassed the power of gas imo. Pros - the saw is lightweight, powerful, quiet. It saws through the hardest of woods with ease. Cons - the saw has a tendency to overheat the batteries. I'm using a flexvolt 12ah and while that provides enough juice to take down a good size tree the bigger issue is with the batteries overheating if you're using the saw continuously. The only other issue I have is the lack of available replacement chains as it appears DeWalt has dropped the ball on supplying 20-in chains. I believe Oregon makes a replacement chain but they're difficult to find. Overall the saw is well built, powerful and has fully replaced my Stihl chainsaws. I'm very happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Nice saw
Purchased this saw last year really like it. I’ve used it to clean fallen trees from our property. I’ve had the full 20” bar in trees already and the saw doesn’t lack for power though the batteries last the best on logs around 10 to 12 inches. Not a professional loggers saw but great for the occasional tree clean up and anyone who doesn’t use a saw enough to keep the carburetor from gumming up ... show more

  • Disappointed!
I was so excited for this expensive saw, but only got 2 days off cutting out of it. It was cutting amazing and fast and the battery life wasn't good. I used a 12ah dewalt flex battery and would only last line 20-30min. It is a bit heavier then normal electric chainsaws. The chain tensioner broke and it started smoking. Very disappointed and it's part my return window because I ordered it over the winter and didn't use it until now. ... show more

  • Good product but
Expensive but this thing rips maybe suggest the atlas 80v you can get the chainsaw, battery and charger for the same price of just the dewalt chainsaw and works just as well

  • Well....
Battery life kinda sucks. Bought the 15mah battery because the 9mah wouldn't even last through a log. The 15 does better but.... Listen, saw cuts great when it cuts. Just that for the saw and $400 battery, it should be much better. If I had to do it over, probably would have gotten the 16 inch, as battery life on it is reportedly better and will still get 90% of the stuff I cut. I also have the 12 inch and love it; 5mah lasts forever. ... show more

  • Great especially if you're already invested in DeWalt 20v/60v batteries
This is more powerful than you might expect - especially if you grew up with NiCd and NiMH batteries. The lithium batteries last a decent time, but if you're doing heavy cutting for extended periods, you're going to want at least three 9AH to 12AH batteries. Note that the oil does tend to leak, but this is to be expected since the oil oils the chain. ... show more

  • Got the job done!
I bought this to trim larger tree branches and remove a palm tree. I already have several 60V FlexVolt batteries so I really wanted this chainsaw to work despite some of the negative reviews. I used it pretty heavily for several days cleaning up the yard and it worked great. It's lightweight and easy to handle. The safety mechanism seemed a little overkill to me but that's just the way the world is these days. I did have to purchase chain oil separately but it was readily available the nearby hardware store. The chain did slip when I got into the roots of the palm tree and I had to clean out the tensioning mechanism. It was very easy to access, clean and lubricate. I would not recommend this to professional landscapers or lumberjacks since it is clearly a residential tool. I do recommend it to anyone who needs a chainsaw occasionally to clean up the yard or remove the occasional downed tree. The cost of this chainsaw is far less than the cost of a landscaping company. ... show more

  • Decent chainsaw. Eats batteries and the oiler doesn't work
I have been using this saw for a year now and I will say I am happy with many of it's features but the oiler doesn't work. My chain always goes dry and I end up with oil everywhere else but on the chain. The oiler continually leaks when the saw is not being used.
