I was so excited to use this I neglected to read the instructions until I had ingredients mixing. Apparently you need to let the refrigerant settle upright for a few hours. Regardless it worked great! Twenty minutes later I had soft serve ice cream. I had to let it sit on the cold plate a little while longer to firm up, and it did. The next day I made custard. I let my mix fully cool in the fridge first, and had to give it a few extra minutes chilling in the machine also. Still, perfect custard. This thing is quiet. I love that I can pull it out on the counter while eating dinner, have a conversation, and have dessert ready by the time we’re done. I had a ninja creami, and that thing sounds like a rocket ship. Doesn’t help that I’m not great at planning ahead either. Haven’t tried the rolled ice cream yet, but the hard ice cream might be all I need.

The whole family enjoyed making homemade ice cream! The grandkids had fun coming up with great ideas for the mix-ins. I'm sure that we will be using this product a lot, especially with the warmer weather coming. It's a quick and easy dessert, that only took 20 minutes to make. I would highly recommend this product! I had a different brand ice cream maker before this one and I can already tell I prefer this one. The biggest thing for me is not having to plan ahead!! I love that I can just put my ingredients in, push the button and 20 minutes later I have whatever ice cream I want. It’s also way quieter than I expected, I almost forgot it was running. End result was super creamy & my family and I really loved it!!

I cannot say enough good things about this machine!! The fact that you don’t have to freeze the ingredients overnight is awesome for when my sweet tooth kicks in :) We’ve already used it for a fun family night activity because the whole process is so interactive and fun. It’s super quiet while it’s churning and it’s really cool to watch it turn into this creamy dessert right in front of you. Highly recommend!

Tried it and made the recommended Ube Ice Cream recipe from the Instant Pot website. Wow, it's great. Ice cream in 20 minutes. Better than the store bought Ube Ice Cream. Filipino parties is going to be legit.

It does make ice cream in 20 mins and best part: no need to freeze overnight. That being said, this definitely feels like a first-generation product. If Instant Pot is listening, there are some big areas for improvement. The main problem is the design of the churning system. A thick layer of the ice cream freezes almost immediately to the bottom of the cold pot, and the blade just gets caked in a sticky layer of the mix. Because of this, it basically stops actually churning the ice cream after the first 5 or 10 minutes. Without that constant movement, you end up with ice crystals and a pretty inconsistent, icy texture. I even followed one of the recipes straight from InstantChill recipe book, so I knew the base itself wasn't the issue. To prove it, I actually melted the ruined batch down, poured it into my Ninja Creami container and freezed it overnight, and ran a cycle. It came out perfectly churned, smooth, and creamy. I ended up melting mix, putting it in ninja creami, and used creami blend to get perfectly churned ice cream. Because there was such a massive difference in taste and texture using the exact same recipe, I'm unfortunately going to return this one. It’s an awesome concept to not have to pre-freeze, but I’ll be waiting for version 2.0 once they figure out the blade design.

I’m in love with this ice cream maker!! I was shopping around for one but really didn’t like the idea of having to pre-plan like some of the other machines. I love that with the InstantChill I can throw in my ingredients and in minutes I have something for my sweet tooth cravings. It’s fool proof for creamy ice cream and I can’t wait to keep experimenting with flavors and toppings
