  • Still Blown Away After Nearly a Year of Constant Use Still Blown Away After Nearly a Year of Constant Use
Style: Non-Wi-fi
I’ve been using the Instant Pot Duo Crisp Ultimate Lid, 13‑in‑1 Air Fryer and Pressure Cooker Combo for a while now, and I’m incredibly impressed with its performance, versatility, and generous capacity. I originally rated it 4 stars, but after using it almost daily for just under a year, I’ve updated my review to 5 stars. I reach for it constantly, and the food turns out perfect every single time, no matter which mode I’m using. This 6.5‑quart appliance is a true game‑changer. It handles pressure cooking, air frying, sautéing, slow cooking, baking, steaming, warming, roasting, dehydrating, sous vide, and even proofing. Honestly, the sous vide feature alone is worth the purchase — I’ve bought standalone sous vide machines that cost about the same. With all these functions in one unit, it replaces a ton of appliances, which is amazing if you have a small kitchen or just want to simplify your setup. The 6.5‑quart size is perfect for my family of four. It easily fits whole chickens, big batches of chili, or multiple servings of air‑fried snacks. I use the pressure cooking and air frying modes the most, and both work flawlessly. The pressure cooker delivers tender, flavorful meals in a fraction of the time, and the air fryer produces crispy, delicious results with minimal oil. The sauté mode is also a big upgrade from my older Instant Pot — the multiple temperature settings give me great control for browning meat or simmering sauces. The included app with 800+ recipes has been a fantastic resource for trying new things, and everything I’ve made has turned out great, especially with the extra cooking space this model offers. My only gripe is the removable pressure‑cook lid. If you don’t line up the plastic clip just right, it can get stuck and take some wiggling to remove. I’ve seen other reviewers mention the same thing, and I can see how the clip might wear out if you’re rough with it. But as long as you take a moment to align it properly, it’s not a dealbreaker. The stainless steel build feels durable, the controls are intuitive, and cleanup is quick and easy. Overall, I’m thrilled with this Instant Pot’s performance and capacity. It’s perfect for family meals, meal prepping, or anyone who wants to streamline their cooking with a versatile, high‑performing appliance — just be mindful of the lid clip. ... show more

  • Not Worth the $$
Style: Non-Wi-fi
To start..this kitchen gadget is way to heavy at nearly 25lbs I myself cannot lift it due to medical reasons. It is also very tall in height, having it on my counter i have to lean up and over it to see inside. My slow cooker of 24yrs became a creacked-pot so I thought I would invest in something with multiple gadgets in one. This InstaPot was the wrong choice. This takes about an hour to preheat on slow cooker, Yes an hour even after sautéing items before hand, so cold food in spots after "4hrs" of cooking on high. Cannot pause on this setting either it continues to beep at you even while on warm for serving. The air fryer is more like a broiler being only cooking the browning/cooking on just one side. The pot discolored after the first use. When cooking with lid closed the condensation pools around the rim and causes drips onto counter Be Careful. The inner portion of lid removes for some settings (air fryer for one) this is held in by a small PLASTIC tab seems flimsy at best. The locking mechanism is great for safety hence the 1 star but needs force to shut and causes me to strain when closing. This item is over priced, over weighted and over hyped. The app for recipes isn't anything you couldn't simply find online. Not pleased with instapot by any means but now stuck with it due to time frame for returns. Took time to unbox it and get it to the kitchen due to size and weight, then trying different functions. ... show more

  • Versatile but takes time to learn Versatile but takes time to learn
Style: Non-Wi-fi
If you’ve never used a pressure cooker before, there’s a learning curve and I’d recommend getting a general book on it (I’m still searching for a good one). The main reason I bought it is because New York City is supposedly phasing out gas for reasons of safety (think exploding buildings) and indoor air quality (get an indoor air quality meter off Amazon, fire up your gas range and you’ll be alarmed). This device has a single hinged lid that integrates an airfryer/broiler/roaster element and (removeable) pressure cooker lid. This, it can theoretically replace everything including your oven, stove top, microwave, and toaster because it’s all those things. Obviously, if you want to make a whole big sheet of cookies, then this doesn’t have room for that, but yes, you can technically bake a handful of cookies. It’s best for making anything soupy or stewy, and is surprisingly good at making a kind of “steamed” cake. A handful of YouTube and Reddit reviews report not being able to open the lid for hours - ok there are some tricks: 1. Unlike most pressure cookers with the controls on the outside, this is a hands-free “self sealing and releasing” mechanism that’s all internal. The way it works is the internal valve is in a dropped position at the outset; as the pressure builds it forces the valve upwards to seal the pot (ie close the vent) and start cooking. When cooking is done and pressure is released the valve drops down again, opening the vent which causes the pot to display “ok to open lid.” Now, because of condensation, the valve may stay stuck in the upward position. So you just whack it with your hand which causes it to drop. Then you should get the “open lid” message. It’s a bit of a kluge but there you go. 2. When in doubt, put less cooking time. This thing will turn anything to mush otherwise. It’s amazing how you can dump frozen chicken thighs or frozen fish in there, hit 2 to 4 minutes and the stuff actually comes out cooked. In fact, to reheat soup you put zero mins cook time and the mere act of the pressure building up is enough to heat it up. Amazing. 3. When in doubt, make sure you put enough water in there when pressure cooking. The rule of thumb seems 1-2 cups. If it’s not enough, the thing throws up an error and you may have to start over. I was on the brink of returning it within the window after experiencing many of these issues, which I resolved with a lot of googling (always put “reddit” in front of any query and you’ll get an intelligent answer). Having taken the time to figger it out I’m pretty impressed, especially with the minimal cleanup. No oil spattered kitchen! Best of all, the monster fits in my 15-inch IKEA pot drawer so it’s not like the Death Star sitting on my counter. The only competing device is the top of the line Ninja which I understand comes with a slew of additional accessories, but I think the inner pot is either ceramic or enameled. I prefer the solid stainless steel pot of the Instant Pot. Finally, the earlier models with the completely removal lid also have removable sealing rings and some people reserve one for curries and another for cakes. The sealing ring here is permanently bolted on, and there are comments about it soaking up smell of curry, which will mess up your cake. I’ve not had an issue with this and believe life’s too short to worry about it. In sum, recommended but there’s a learning curve. ... show more

  • Air Fryer/ Instant Pot Combo
Style: Non-Wi-fi
My beloved original instant pot died shortly before my birthday m, so I researched newer models and settled on the ultimate 6.5 qt combo. I was considering buying an air fryer, so an all in one device was a clear choice. It takes up the same amount of countertop space as my older model and functions the same. This model has a removable inside lid to change from air fryer to instant pot, the digital display tells you everything you to do and if something is not right with the lids or secured lock, it will tell you before you can start your cooking cycle. The first device I received had a sensor malfunction within the 1st week of owning it, but after contacting instant pot customer service, it was quickly resolved and I got a brand new device mailed to me. I was a bit skeptical if it would happen again, but I'm happily using my new device for over 2 months with zero issues. ... show more

  • Terrific range of functions but needs some improvements
Style: Non-Wi-fi
This is one amazing machine, or would be, if all the functions worked well. The range of functions is amazing, but some of them are lacking. I’m really hoping Instant Pot will revisit this and make some improvements. Here is what I’ve found, after using it for two years: The pressure cooker function works very well, except that you can only adjust the pressure to high or low. Some functions let you set the temperature in degrees, like Bake. But they only let you go up to 400F. However, since it’s essentially using the air fryer lid for this, it functions like a convection oven. But it doesn’t tell you this anywhere. Thankfully the chicken fillets that had instructions for baking and not air frying were fine done this way, for only slightly longer than the instructions said for an oven. The Sous Vide function doesn’t have as wide a range of temperatures as my sous vide stick, so there are recipes I can’t use it for. Likewise, the yogurt function doesn’t allow you to set a temp to distinguish between mesophilic and thermophilic yogurts, let alone the very specific ranges of some other probiotics. So I haven’t used it for this. And one of my biggest frustrations is that while it has a sauté function, it won’t work unless the lid is shut. One of the things I loved most about my old Farberware one was I could sear meat and then pressure cook it, which improves both texture and taste. Not being able to do this means dirtying two pans instead of one. I do love the stainless steel pot. I’ve found it to be sturdy, and the pot itself is easy to clean. It doesn’t come up to pressure or pressure release as fast as my Farberware did (and it was 7 quarts). The air fryer does come up to temperature pretty quickly. We did find that taking the steam release gasket off, cleaning it and straightening it out since it was folded in on itself did improve the steam release time. We waited until it was out of warranty before doing this. Didn’t even realize it was the problem before. All in all, I don’t know what I’d do without it. But wish some things worked better. ... show more

  • Amazingly simple! Simply Amazing! Amazingly simple! Simply Amazing!
Style: Non-Wi-fi
Bought my Instant Pot Duo Crisp Ultimate here in "Used - Good Condition" fulfilled by Amazon. The thing arrived in perfect shape with all original literature. After doing a quick pressure test with 2 cups of water (just to make sure it seals), I was ready for my first cook. I had to go for the picture on the box: A whole chicken with veggies! I've never used a pressure cooker in my life and it was SO EASY. Seasoned the chicken, tossed in the veggies and 2 cups of water. Pressure cooked for 20 minutes. Then air fried for 20 more minutes to get the skin nice and crisp. The attached picture speaks for itself. Plus - tasty chicken broth as a wonderful by-product for another recipe in the future! Second dish I cooked was much simpler: plain jasmine rice. I rinsed the rice then added it to the pot with water at a 1:1 ratio, then set the pressure cooker for 3 minutes with 10 minutes of natural steam release. It came out perfect. The third dish I cooked was homemade split pea soup. Chopped ham steak, sliced sausage, chicken broth (used the stock from the whole chicken I had previously cooked), a slice of bacon, veggies/garlic, and a pound of split peas. My wife was so impressed she is now convinced this this appliance is magic. All of these things were so easy to do with this awesome appliance. Literally the press of a button or two and the turn of a knob to set the time. I am by no means an expert in the kitchen. Fortunately, Instant Pot is such a household name these days that you can find recipes for all sorts of dishes all over the internet, in magazines, and even in books. Cooking a meal has become fast, simple, and delicious around our household! And I feel so proud of the meals I've been able to easily make with this thing. I can't wait to make my own yogurt, homemade jerky, and take a stab at sous vide. I still love our 40 year old Crock-Pot... But I wonder if the slow cooker setting will produce results so good that I end up putting the old hand-me-down in storage! This may legitimately be the ultimate appliance for saving counter space. *Update* I have made my own jerky from round roast using an inexpensive dehydrator rack I found on Amazon. At 140 degrees for 5hrs, it turned out so perfect. I also have made homemade yogurt with it. Some complain that this model does not allow you to bypass the pasteurize cycle of the process, but in my opinion that's a good thing because it will kill any contamination in the pot before the fermentation begins. Greek yogurt is almost completely fool proof with this thing! We are now saving a TON of money on yogurt in our house and our homemade yogurt tastes much better than the expensive name brand yogurt at the supermarket! Instant Pot... Where have you been all my life?!? ... show more

  • Received It Filthy & It Only Got Worse From There
Style: Non-Wi-fi
I was excited to try the Instant Pot Duo Crisp, but my experience was nothing short of a disaster. First off, when I opened the box, the unit was covered in grease and oil and smelled like old food. It was disgusting. I’m convinced I was sent a renewed or returned model, but even if that were the case, the lack of sanitation was unacceptable. Still, I decided to give it a chance. I started by making rice, something simple. I put the rice in, attached the pressure cooking lid, and let it do its thing. It should have taken 10 minutes, but after 30 minutes, the unit hadn’t even reached pressure. That was extremely unusual, considering I’ve been using pressure cookers for five years. I figured maybe this model just worked differently, so I decided to cancel the cook and release the pressure manually. That’s when things got worse. The pressure release didn’t work at all the lid was completely stuck shut, and I couldn’t open it for hours. My food was trapped inside while I was hungry and frustrated. When I was finally able to open it, my rice was burnt to a crisp, which was even more upsetting given the cost of groceries these days. I read through the manual again and researched the issue, only to find out that this is a known problem with this model. Many others have had the same issue, yet they’re still selling these units new and used. If this hasn’t happened to you yet, it will eventually. Just to be sure, I ran three more tests with just water, and all three times, the lid got stuck, and I couldn’t release the pressure. At that point, I was done. I returned it instead of exchanging it because I didn’t want to take the risk of this happening again down the line. I originally bought this to replace my Ninja Foodi 2-in-1 air fryer/pressure cooker, but after this experience, I appreciate my Ninja even more. When I do upgrade again, it will not be with Instant Pot. Come to your own conclusions, but I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone. ... show more
