I absolutely love this Instant Pot! The 4-quart size is perfect for one or two people. It doesn't take up much space on my countertop, but it's still big enough to cook a full meal. Before this one, I used a 6-quart Instant Pot to make bone broth. It worked great, but I actually prefer this smaller size. Now I can make fresh, smaller batches two or three times a week instead of one big batch. For some reason, it just feels so much better, and I enjoy having freshly made broth more often. It's very easy to use, and I love how versatile it is. I've already used the pressure cooker, sauté, and slow cook functions, and everything has turned out great. The stainless steel inner pot is also very easy to clean, which is a big plus. It also looks really nice on the counter. The Sea Salt color is simple and modern, and the compact size makes it easy to store or move around if needed. If you're looking for an Instant Pot that doesn't take over your kitchen but still does everything you need, I highly recommend this one. It has been a fantastic purchase!

I like the shape of this one and the death of this one much better than my old 3 quart instant pot let me explain. The old 3 quart mini instant pot was taller and smaller around. So if you’re a person that had a six or an 8 quart instant pot you had to re-buy all of your accessories. And I am in process of downsizing. I gave away my big six and my eight cord instant pots in favor of just having one smaller one and I chose the Rio. It’s is big around as the six and 8 quarts, but it’s not nearly as deep so it’s not as deep as the other instant pot mini design which I don’t think is available anymore I’m not sure this one is bigger around so it’s easier to get a chicken in there a whole chicken And maybe a little bit of carrot and vegetables. Don’t go over the line inside, but it’s much easier at least with your liquid. It works OK see if your chicken wing is sticking up or the very top of the breast, but it doesn’t work for the liquid to go up any higher than the line in there so be sure and note that because that will be a difference, but it holds 4 quarts in total so you should be fine but so far everything that I have made in it. I have been happy with and I like the ease of being able to put a small roast or a whole chicken in there without stuffing it up on its side or something like that I like to put it in the correct way so that it comes out easier. This is the second one of these Rios that I bought. I gave the first one away because someone came and wished they had one and they were in a situation that I think it could’ve been quite helpful so I gave them my first one and now I got one of these brand new beautiful white ones just very pretty.

So easy to use and clean-up is a snap!

This Instant Pot Rio Electric Pressure Cooker is the most important appliance I own. There is no comparison to the old-fashioned kind and I used them for years. The six quart size means you can cook a lot of food! Meat comes out fork-tender and veggies are not overcooked. Could not be easier to use. The stainless steel insert is easy to clean or can go in the dishwasher. I also like the safety features and the fact that all you do is set it and let it cook. No monitoring to assure the heat is correct like we had to do in the past and no noise. You will thank yourself if you get this cooker.

Just right for 2-3 people meals

If you're already familiar with instant pots, you'll already know to expect some differences between models. Disregarding the size difference, a few things are noteworthy: 1) The interface is a little less complex on this one than other models. For instance, the pressure cooking setting doesn't have temperature control. So, just set it to pressure cook and away you go. 2) They've added an anti-rotate feature for the pot so you can stir things without the pot spinning around inside the unit. I hope they add this feature to all future models. It's just some silicone/rubber nubs that make contact with the pot when it is inserted. It's simple and effective. 3) The power cord is permanently affixed to the unit and at least for the US version, is just a 2 prong plug (and just by the way, that's all it needs. It draws less power than the bigger models). My wife has a big family so we have an 8qt instant pot duo crisp model that gets a work out for family events. One of my kids has a 6qt duo crisp. Both are just too big for 2-3 person meals. This Rio Mini is exactly right. I've only had it for a few days, but I've done all of the things I normally do with an instant pot and it performs exactly as I'd hope. I made a chicken meal from frozen to plated in under 30 minutes. I've done baked potatoes. I cooked rice (and by the way, the rice cooker feature is missing from our huge duo crisp model - you can do it, but it isn't as simple. This one is dead simple.). And, last night I did a more complex Bolognese/Penne pasta meal that turned out exactly as expected. I have no complaints about this model what so ever. I picked black because I don't care about matching any decor. It was easy to find it a home in my limited counter space. I ordered a silicone and a glass lid for the 6qt size and they fit this one perfectly. I have no idea if the silicone rings are interchangeable though. I like to keep a couple of seal rings to avoid flavor transfer after doing something heavy on onion or garlic and then doing something sweet or bland. Also, I'll be looking forward to when they offer spare pots for this one. It's nice to be able to make a main course, put a silicone lid on it, and then swap pots to make a side or a desert without having to empty and clean the first pot. This device is going to get a lot of use. The only thing that stops me from using our 8qt model more often and for more things is the size because there are often only two or three of us home to feed most days.

This Instant pot is a winner compared to the traditional versions

I used to hate my former instant pot. I gave it away. I purchased this one because it seemed different, made sense, was the right size, I liked the squat appearance, and I was hoping it worked better than my other one. I love it! Since the bottom is wider, sautéing is very easy; the bottom surface area is greater. It works well for 2 people. It cooks rice very nicely, also because it is wider, not tall and skinny. The changes in size, shape and functions make this a winner. The downside is there is no recipe book. Amounts for larger instant pots will have be to sized down.

Nice Instant Pot With a Couple of Drawbacks

PROS: 1) Aesthetically pleasing appearance in my upgraded light kitchen, much prettier than my other black and stainless Instant Pots. Even the panel is mostly white. Color is a soft white or very light off white, not stark white which I was hoping for. 2) Much quieter than my other 3 and 6 quart Instant Pots. No loud obnoxious beeps. 3) The release button is on the front of the lid rather than next to the pressure release spout making it much much safer to use. 4) The glass lid from my 6 quart Instant Pot unit fits this container so they are interchangeable. A huge plus since the unit doesn’t come with a cover for refrigeration. 5) I love the wider shorter bowl which makes it easier to cook and serve. 6) I like that it has both high and low temperature settings for Slow Cook unlike my 3 quart Instant Pot. CONS: 1) Cord is cheap and flimsy, nothing like the more substantial 3 pronged cord on my other Instant Pot units. This was a huge downgrade. And it’s black, an eyesore on this otherwise very pretty unit. Should have used a better quality white cord. I’m purchasing a sleeve for it. 2) Electric Cord is not detachable like with my other Instant Pot units so you can’t replace it in case you want something longer or shorter or better quality or just want to remove it for storage. 3) You can’t purchase additional replacement containers in this size and shape which I was able to do with my other Instant Pot units. Hopefully they’ll eventually manufacture them. But in the meantime the one container is all I have. 4) The Pressure Cook/Steam settings have only one temperature unlike my other stainless Instant Pot units which had both low and high options. I consider this a rather significant downgrade. After using it several times and judging by how long it takes to heat up, cook, and depressurize the temp seems to be high. Disappointing as I always used the low temp setting before. Overall I like the RIO except for the cord and that I can’t buy extra containers. So far it’s working well. I’ve already made soup, pasta, and rice which came out perfect.

Worth the upgrade!

This pressure cooker is absolutely amazing! I would not have purchased it had I not dropped my 3 qt instant pot. I happily used the 3 qt several times a week for nearly a decade. I was all set to reorder the same one when this caught my eye. I like the bigger, but not overwhelming, capacity. It’s also quite pretty! But this has two new features that are total game changers. The biggest improvement is the pressure valve release button is a fair distance from the valve itself. I can release the pressure without a pot holder or towel which feels safer. The auto lock is also a fantastic new addition! No longer do I have to worry about forgetting to close the valve. I bought this at full price because that’s how much I depend on using an Instant Pot, and it was worth every penny!
