  • Amazingly fun, just know what you are getting into
This is a good way to try out an EUC without spending thousands of dollars. It will almost certainly take a while to learn. I found a parking lot with a railing that could be used to balance initially, than started pushing off of that to go short distances on my own. After the 3rd session I could get around the parking lot without falling. Launching without any support took a lot longer but it comes eventually. InMotion seems to be a well regarded manufacturer of EUCs in terms of their engineering and reliability. However, the EUC industry is pretty immature. They don't have experience making thousands of units and eliminating all the manufacturing issues. So there is a decent chance that not everything will work as expected. In our case, we had problems with the power button right out of the box. Fortunately, their email support was very helpful in getting the problem resolved. It did require taking apart the EUC to look at the circuit board and battery, so best if you are comfortable with minor bike-like and computer-like repairs. While taking apart the EUC, it looked to me like the core components were pretty well built but the outer plastic shell and pads seemed a bit flimsier, I suspect that given the beating that they take when riding that they will eventually need repaired or replaced. All that said, it is easily worth it once you get the hang of it. It is a very different feeling than being on a bike or scooter. There is something magical about being able to control the EUC through subtle movement that is easily worth the price of admission. ... show more

  • Good wheel to learn on
Since I got this in late April of 2024, I have been absolutely abusing this thing on a near daily basis. I am brand new to EUCs and I am totally hooked. It's the most fun you can have on one wheel and there is nothing quite like it. Best I can compare/describe, it's like being able to ski without a mountain and you can go up hill. For $400 bucks, you really can't go wrong. Buy it, abuse it and learn how to ride, then get the next one because if you put the time in and get it, there will be no stopping that. I had the hardest time initially learning how to ride it but now, I'm flying on this thing (for it anyway) and nearly able to ride it backwards. Trust me, learn and it and you will have a great time. Wear protective gear to save yourself some bruises and scratches along the way and don't stop. Like I said, I am just beating on this thing. I had to epoxy glue the pads back on it so far that has held them on. I have run it straight into a wall several times at full speed (just it not me mind you) and it did not miss a beat. I over powered it, asking too much of the motor and it pancaked on me so naturally I stomped on it because it was "being bad". Still works and yes I am idiot. I have taken it off road and sure, it's not doing too well with that and is a bit unwieldy and unpredictable in that terrain. It has still put up with it and still going. I have bailed on this thing countless times, watching as it endures blow after blow. I thought for sure I'd kill this thing the by the third time I got on it, given these are relatively new form of transportation but no, it just keeps going. The worst glitch I have run into is all related to battery and really that's on me because I just don't stop. After I run it down as far as I can, it will sometimes complain when I try to charge it. I just let it sit and let the batteries or whatever chill for a minute and then plug it back in and that has worked. My biggest problem is that I am asking it to do things its little tire and motor just can't accomplish. If you use this as it is intended (a short-range commuter wheel) it should do just fine and I may use it as such later on or give it to my sister to try out, if it survives that long. So far, it's still charging up despite all the abuse. My biggest complaint with this design is that it's so sleek looking. If the shell touches anything, it's going to scratch immediately. I wish they had made it more like a tug-boat, anticipating riders were going to learn on these and beat the absolute crap out of them. The whole thing should be coated in a quarter inch of rubber instead of an iphone screen. That would have been a helluva lot more practical because even if you are good, these narrow wheel EUCs are going to get away from you from time to time and they are going to collect scratches. As long as the batteries don't ignite on me, I am leaving the 4 star rating alone. That is my biggest fear right now and, honestly, it would be appropriate revenge for me from this thing in my case. If yours performs as mine has, you really can't get upset about such a cheap entry point. It's a smart move by Inmotion to make something like this so accessible and create addicts. Well done in my case. ... show more

  • Excellent quality. Performed flawlessly.
Bought this for my son who has been riding his regular unicycle for.a long time. He learned too ride it very quickly and said he loves it. Seems like a good learning ecycle. Hate to think about the price of the next step ecycle. Told my son to stop riding till he got pads. We think it's an excellent product!! ... show more

  • Fantastic wheel, but go for the V5F
If you are looking for a training wheel, this is probably the second best deal for you. The v5 is a bargain wheel but underpowered especially if you are north of 180lbs. I’ve been riding EUC’s since 2018 and only contemplated going “back” to smaller wheels to improve my technical riding skills. I started off with an Inmotion v8; the 16” wheels are the best to learn on especially if you are planing to replace your commute entirely with these EV. The v5f battery is too small to handle any kind of suitable range; but it is great to learn on. Be warned as it is very nimble especially from the get-go. If you don’t have anyone to teach you; YouTube will become your best friend. Your inner parts of the your legs will hate you for the first couple of weeks, but it unlocks a level of freedom you never thought existed. ... show more

  • This device is dangerous. Do not let someone you love get on this.
This design is prone to overloading when starting up. Or maybe the seller is refurbing them poorly. I do not know for sure but this I do know. 2 different units both blew the fuse on the pc board after turning it on (in the usual manner) and the unit's tire spinning up to top speed immediately. The first one failed just inside the return window and only left a black mark on my rug -- forever. The second one however was fine until after the return window closed and when it failed it jerked me to the ground violently leaving me bleeding and hurting bad. Also, I am out $600. I like EUCs. I am not condemning EUCs in general -- I am saying that specifically this model (maybe only from this seller) is a death trap. It will fail and unless you can solder you are out a lot of cash and could be seriously hurt. I tried to reach out to the seller but it is not that easy to do since I do not have a question that a bot can answer. ... show more
