My first experience with an Ebike. I'm in decent shape at 62 y.o standing 6 ft and weighing 180 lbs. I have owned road bikes, mountain bikes and beach cruisers in my lifetime. My initial impression of the Velowave Ranger is that it's quite a remarkable bike. She's a hefty beast, yet nimble and well balanced. Assembly was easy, straightforward and took me about an hour. I went slowly, to ensure everything was adjusted and tightened correctly. This Ebike is exactly as described, performs as expected and is a sheer delight to ride. I charged the battery to 100% before testing out the bike. I took it out for a shakedown run of 6 miles on some dirt roads near my home. Smooth and extremely comfortable are the two words to best describe it. Then, I went on a 20 mile ride in the evening, pushing the limits of everything. The hydraulic brakes are amazing. Several deer jumped out in front of me, along with some small woodland creatures. In each instance, I was able to stop very quickly. I dampened down the adjustable front suspension for my comfort level, giving me a firm ride with adequate bump absorption. Shifting between the 7 gears was smooth and effortless, too. The battery was at 28% after a total of 26 miles ridden. I felt that I had worked it hard and therefore am pleased with the power and range. The headlight is extremely bright, giving clear notice to others. I appreciate having 2 sets of frame mounts for both a pump and water bottle. Overall I'm very impressed with the quality and functionality of this Ebike. The packaging was well thought out, with nary a scratch or mar anywhere. Every single weld on this 6061 aluminum frame was perfect, too. I would highly recommend the Velowave Ranger to anyone wanting a bigger sized Ebike. For some folks though, it might be too much bike for them, as it's a hefty beast. I loaded it on my car carrier rack w/o the battery installed and it tested my abilities. I'd recommend removing the battery during transport anyways, to eliminate any possibility of having the heavy battery come loose. I don't see that happening though, with the solid, locking mechanism that holds it in. I'll update in a few weeks with any notable additions. I bought this bike in January 2022, been riding it on weekends ever since. The bike is well constructed, the electronics, charger, battery, and battery's charge retention is excellent. Plenty of power. I happened to loose my keys (hoping I can buy another set from the seller) but I can still charge the bike even when the battery isn't removed. The headlight is pretty heavy-duty and emits plenty of illumination, the Bafang motor is a premium brand name in the industry, gives me plenty of power. Hydraulic brakes stop the bike immediately, gave me a lot of confidence when riding. Though I had read other reviews that mentioned a weakness in the Shimano derailer, but so far so good here. The paint is good and the branding is unobtrusive, unlike some of the other bikes I looked at. A couple of cons; the bike is a bit taller than usual, not a problem for me but my kid has a bit of trouble with it. Same thing with the weight, its a bit heavy for younger/elderly people. But most of the bikes with this level of power/fat tires seem to be on the heavy side, might be a norm. Would I prefer rear suspension, mid-drive, blinkers/rear brakelights integrated into the electronics? Sure...but I wasn't ready to spring out a few hundred bucks more for them. It's really hard to complain about anything based on the great bang for the buck this Velowave provides. I researched dozens of bikes because these things are not inexpensive. But this one has the perfect combination of what I wanted/needed. Other ebikes in this price range or higher often lack hydraulic brakes, a Bafang motor, and/or the high capacity battery, and sometimes you only notice those missing things when reading fine print. In my opinion this is the best value in ebikes out there right now. I'm extremely pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend it. ... show more

Great ebike, easy to finish putting together, even comes with nice tool kit, I did charge the battery first and used blue thread lock on everything I put together, ck all the bolts for tightness. Rides pretty good right outa box but I dialed it in to fit me perfect, like seat handlebars, brake levers,tire air, I like fork preload backed out counter clockwise for softer off road ride, and it has plenty torque for anything I do. Came with Logan hydraulic breaks and they work fine, I've found in the past Tektro brake pads are compatible with Logan. Shimano shifter works fine. I charge the battery around 40 miles according to the gauge its used up about 1/2. I like it think its pretty good ebike for the price. ... show more
