🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The e-bike in question receives praise for its smooth ride, versatile riding modes, and sturdy build. Riders appreciate the intuitive LED display, the bright headlight for evening rides, and the bike's accessibility for a casual rider with its ability to handle various terrains due to the Shimano 21-speed transmission system. However, there are noted drawbacks such as the lack of a built-in lock, absence of rear fenders, and concerns with the brake system's durability.

Pros

  • 🚲 Smooth ride with good handling on bumps due to front suspensions
  • 🏞️ Three riding modes with a Shimano 21-speed transmission suitable for different terrains
  • ⚡ 350W motor offering speeds up to 20MPH and good range on a full charge
  • 🔋 Battery is waterproof, removable, and charges within about 5 hours
  • 💡 Digital LED display is bright and user-friendly; a useful headlight is included
  • ✨ Aesthetically pleasing design with multiple color options
  • 🔧 Mostly pre-assembled, with a well-detailed manual and the inclusion of tools

Cons

  • 🔒 Lack of an inbuilt bike lock
  • 🛠️ No rear fenders for mud protection, potentially affecting riders in wet conditions
  • 🚨 Taillight is just a reflector, not an electric light
  • 🛑 Some issues with the brake system's durability and assembly
  • ⚙️ Missing assembly instructions in the manual
  • 📏 Seat height may not be suitable for shorter individuals

Should I Buy It?

If you're on the market for an e-bike that offers value for its features and you're comfortable with making minor adjustments or repairs, this could be a smart purchase. The bike's strong performance in varied conditions, combined with its reasonable price tag, make it an attractive option. However, if you prefer an e-bike with all the frills, including a built-in lock and a more reliable brake system, you may want to consider higher-end models.

  • Upgrade tires
Color: Blue
Great bike, everything seems to be good…. Except the tires. Tires are poor quality and will get ahold in them very quickly. I would recommend buying upgraded Kevlar lined tires when purchasing this bike, or any E-bike. The tires are basic tires and cannot handle rough terrain, so upgrade those for sure! But mechanically the bike has been great. I’ve owned it for over two months now and I have not had any issues besides and the light. The light works well but isn’t bright enough. I bought I bigger and brighter one that lights up the road. Overall the totguard bike is great. I’ve compared it to a few that some friends have bought in the same price range and mine seems to be slightly better than theirs. I definitely will recommend to others. ... show more

  • Great value with lots of features
Color: White
I rode a friend’s electric bike a few months ago and absolutely loved it but she paid close to $2,000 and that was too much for me. I kept wanting one and after looking at the features and reviews for this bike, decided to take a chance. The bike arrived in a single cardboard box and was well packed with lots of foam padding and zip ties to keep parts from flopping around. After removing all the packaging, I was left with about six or seven parts to assemble and a bag of included tools. One thing I wish they would have included in the instruction manual is actual assembly instructions but I’m pretty good at putting things together and it’s pretty obvious. There weren’t any parts I looked at wondering where or how to attach them. Just for fun, I started a stopwatch and put the bike together at a casual pace. Total time was 23 minutes and that included putting the handlebars on backwards and having to take them off and put them back on the right way. I literally got on the bike and started pedaling around right away. I then spent another 10 minutes carefully going over everything just to make sure things were aligned and tight. Next, I plugged in the charger and walked away to do some errands. I think the manual says it takes five hours to charge from empty but it was full after less than three hours. I was ready to give it a full test on the street. This bike is a lot less expensive than my friend’s bike so I had little doubt it would ride just fine but thought maybe it wouldn’t feel as solid or be as peppy when using the electric part. I was wrong. There are three speeds to the power portion and you can really feel it! At each speed it seems to sense how much you’re pedaling first, and then it kicks in with extra boost. It keeps supplying power after you stop pedaling but then again senses if you’re slowing down and the power stops. I had just as big a grin on my face as when I rode my friend’s bike. The real surprise that I wasn’t expecting is there’s actually a throttle on the right hand grip and you can supply power by turning it. You don’t even have to pedal. A small but very visible computer screen shows you what power level you’re using, how much battery power is left, your speed, odometer, time, and some other info that I haven’t yet figured out. Other features I really like are a headlight, horn, and this might not seem like a big deal but a nice little kickstand. It also has front shocks with a dial you can turn to lock it and turn it into a fixed fork. I’m trying to think of things I don’t like but I’m really happy with this purchase. It’s a good looking bike and full featured and you can’t beat the price for what you get in return. Literally everything is included to put it together (I did use my own adjustable wrench to remove a temporary rod installed in the front fork). The manual is the weak part with maybe two illustrations and ten pages of safety warnings. I would have liked assembly instructions with a focus on how to make sure everything is perfectly aligned and secured and some more info about the onboard computer but I’m not going to ride the manual, so not a deal breaker. ... show more

  • It can do the hills, but not without your help.
Color: Blue
It's a really nice bike with the right features. It was easy to finish the assembly by following an online video. You may need to do some adjustments to the rear derailleur. Mine was off by one gear. With adjustment, it lines right up. I purchased this bike for commuting from a rural area to the city. The ride is mostly level and downhill on the ride in, but that makes the ride home extremely difficult. I bought the bike with the hope that it would make the steep hills more doable. The 21 gears, as opposed to 7 on many other e-bikes, was a definite selling point. To be honest, I was concerned at first. The bike has a 350 watt motor, lower power than the listing stated. When I tried it out on a moderate hill, the bike was not able to climb it from a standstill while using throttle only. I wasn't encouraged. But then I started pedaling, and it went really easily. So, I gained some confidence. Time for the real test. I rode the bike to work without any pedal assist or throttle. The 21 speeds worked well and the bike rode very similar to my normal mountain bike. On the ride home, I engaged the pedal assist and attempted the hills. These hills are steep enough that on a normal bike I can walk the bike up faster than I can pedal it. With pedal assist I was able to maintain 7+ miles per hour and didn't feel overworked during the climb. Happily, the bike did exactly what I wanted it to do. On a side note, due to the shape of the frame and the size of the battery, there is not a lot of space for a water bottle. I had to put a holder on top of the cross bar. It works, but my pants do rub on the bottle a little. I was able to purchase a triangular tool set/pouch that fit nicely into the frame. I added a rack and saddle bags so I don't need to wear a backpack while riding. Overall, this was a good purchase. I am happy with the functionality and cost. Now, I'll just have to wait and see how it lasts over time. ... show more
