  • Had an issue, but IR stepped up.
Edit- reached out to Ingersoll Rand about my issue and they stepped up and made it right for me. Hopefully my replacement lasts longer like my first switches. I bought this switch to replace the switch on my Ingersoll-Rand compressors that fused itself closed, and would keep running and blowing the pressure bypass valve. Bought this replacement and it didn't even work for a month. Probably went through 20 cycles and it's welded itself closed again. ... show more

  • Fixed my issue
Purchased this as a replacement part for my Ingersoll SS4 We have a small auto repair shop and use this compressor daily. After a year of daily use the compressor would fail to stop once reaching 135psi. Under normal working conditions the compressor is turned on and once it reaches 135PSI it turns off. Once the compressor goes below 100 psi it kicks back on and stops when it reaches 135psi again. Well the compressor would fail to turn off after reaching 135psi and would make a loud clacking noise. We would have to unplug the compressor as even the off switch wouldn't turn it off. I replaced this switch and now it works as intended. It fixed my problem but I'm bummed that we had this issue in the first place. ... show more

  • this doesn't fit the TS5
This definitely did not fit the TS5 compressor. I needed to cannibalize the old one for a number of parts. First it has no accommodation for a pressure relief valve which I consider a serious omission since these things always fail with the points closed. It had a port of 1/2 inch instead of the 3/8th inch the original had and the piping was configured in a rather different direction. I had to remove the aluminum port structure from the old one and put it on the new one. It also has a different shut off pressure, of 135 as opposed to 150. But it works OK and I didn't have to have the 150PSI in the shop. Trying to find the OEM replacement was not happening, at least not from Amazon. I'm just writing this as a caution for others. The tool is up and running again with some effort and a mess of tools.. ... show more

  • Fixed the air compressure
This worked and fixed the problem but had to put it on upside-down. They changed Ged the fittings

  • Save your old switch to steal parts
The switch has now been installed and is fully functional. However, the original switch came with quick-connect split fork spade tabs to go under the terminal screws for installing your wiring fitted with quick-connect terminals. Not on the new switch. Steal them from the old switch. The terminal screws themselves were barely installed and, when I attempted to tighten them, it felt like I was actually self-tapping the brass threads they screwed into. It took a LOT of force, too much for me to think it was correct. Again, steal the old terminal screws out of the old switch and install them. They will go right in and tighten just fine. It worked, which is good, but for the price, it should have at least had the features of the old switch. ... show more

  • Pressure Switch is the Control Center
This same pressure switch is used on many different brands and sizes of air compressors. Sometimes it fails to function properly due to dust accumulation, but when cleaning does not resolve the problem, a new pressure switch is the only solution.
